Caffe Aromi Is Opening in Jamaica Plain

A new cafe is looking to open in Jamaica Plain, moving into a block that has seen the closing of several dining spots and other businesses over the past few years.

The Boston Globe reports that Caffe Aromi could be coming to Centre Street in the Hyde square section of the neighborhood, taking over the space where the June Bug Cafe had been until closing in the summer of 2010. The article mentions that the new Italian-style eatery is hoping to get approval from the city to open in the space with hours being 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, offering such items as sandwiches, coffee, espresso, and baked goods.

[April 4 update: Eater Boston reports that Caffe Aromi has gained approval from the city to open on Centre Street, and it looks like it could be up and running by April 15. The article also mentions that the cafe's initial hours will be 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but an 11:00 PM closing (as mentioned above) will eventually come.]

[May 7 update: A new post from Eater Boston indicates that Caffe Aromi is now open.]

The block of Hyde Square that Caffe Aromi is hoping to move into has seen spots such as the June Bug Cafe, Bella Luna, the Milky Way Lounge, and Zon's close or move, with at least the first three places saying that they left because of skyrocketing rents from the landlord of the property.

The address for this new cafe in Jamaica Plain is: Caffe Aromi, 403 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130.
