Food and Wine Magazine Picks Monica Glass (Clio, Uni) as One of the Best New Pastry Chefs of 2013

A popular magazine has come out with its picks for best new pastry chefs of 2013, and a Boston chef has made the list.

According to their website, Food & Wine Magazine has picked Monica Glass of Clio and Uni Sashimi Bar as one of five best new pastry chefs, saying that her "French-inflected desserts are exquisitely balanced," with each plate containing "several components that show just the right amount of restraint." The list also includes one other pastry chef in the Northeast--Bob Truitt of Ai Fiori, an Italian eatery in Manhattan.

Monica Glass grew up in the Philadelphia area, working in both Philly and New York before coming to Boston. According to a post on StarChefs.com, one of the dining spots she worked at in New York was Le Bernardin, which is owned by Eric Ripert and is considered one of the best restaurants in the country.

Clio and Uni are both located within the Eliot Hotel at 370 Commonwealth Avenue in the Back Bay. The website for the hotel (with links to the restaurants) can be found at http://www.eliothotel.com/
