Salem Wood Cafe in Malden Has Closed

An old-school restaurant and bar in Malden that our sister site has featured as a hidden gem has closed its doors.

According to one of our followers on Facebook, the Salem Wood Cafe is no longer in business, with the place apparently closing sometime over the winter. The Salem Street eating and drinking establishment was a neighborhood spot that featured a mix of Italian and American fare--including chicken parmigiana, ravioli, lasagna, sausage, steak tips, and turkey tips--while also having the feel of a dive bar. The Boston's Hidden Restaurants site reviewed the Salem Wood Cafe, focusing in part on the aforementioned steak tips, which were very close in quality to the nearby Newbridge Cafe in Chelsea (which is often considered to be the best place in the Boston area for tips). The review for the Salem Wood can be found below:

The address for this now-closed restaurant and bar in Malden was: Salem Wood Cafe, 385 Salem Street, Malden, MA, 02148.
