Boston Magazine is reporting that the new Clover coming to Newbury Street will be a plug-in truck that is apparently attached to Hynes Convention Center by the MBTA station, with the truck getting all of its power via electricity from the building. The article indicates that Clover is setting the truck up in this manner because of an MBTA ban of on-site propane, which forces the truck to rely solely on electrical power. Earlier, it looked like the Newbury Street location of Clover might be a sidewalk cafe, with news of the proposed spot dating all the way back to the early part of 2012.
Currently, brick-and-mortar locations of Clover can be found in Central Square, Harvard Square, Inman Square, and Kendall Square in Cambridge, along with shops in Brookline and Burlington; a number of Clover food trucks can also be found around the Boston area. The website for Clover is at http://www.cloverfoodlab.com/
[July 29 update: According to a reliable source, the new Clover Truck will not actually be plugged into the Hynes Convention Center building, but instead will be plugged into the Hynes MBTA Station itself.]
[November 11 update: According to a blog post from Clover, they are getting close to the finish line with their Newbury Street truck (possibly debuting this winter), though there have been so many stops and starts that founder/CEO Ayr Muir says "There is no way I would have ever embarked on this journey if I had any idea at all. It was a crazy mistake."]
[March 21, 2016 update: Eater Boston states that the Clover plug-in truck is now up and running on Newbury Street.]
