Wabora Prime in Allston Has Closed; Iron Kitchen to Replace It

An Allston restaurant that opened earlier this year has shuttered, and it looks like a new dining spot will be replacing it.

According to its website, Wabora Prime on Brighton Avenue is temporarily closed, with a licensing board page within the City of Boston website indicating that the dining spot will become Iron Kitchen. A check on the Yelp page for Wabora shows that the new eatery is scheduled to open on May 31, though little else is known at this point in time.

Wabora Prime first opened in January, taking over the space where such spots as Boston Kabob Company, Gitlo's Dim Sum Bakery, and V. Majestic had once been. The restaurant is affiliated with Wabora on Newbury Street in the Back Bay as well as another location in Bracebridge, ON, and while those two locations are mainly sushi places, Wabora Prime has offered hot dogs, hamburgers, and poutine, along with traditional Asian items.

The address for Wabora Prime (and the upcoming Iron Kitchen) is 164 Brighton Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134. Its website can be found at http://www.waboraprime.com/

[July 18 update: Eater Boston mentions that Iron Kitchen is now open in the former Wabora Prime space, and that it is under different ownership from the former spot. The article says that the new eatery features dishes with Japanese and Chinese influences, while a Yelp page for the restaurant mentions that it is an Asian fusion place.]
