A brand new restaurant is on its way to Newton, and it will be taking over the space where another dining spot had been for 20 years.
According to a poster on the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, a restaurant tentatively called "It" is opening in Newton Centre in the former Appetito space, with a check on the spot's website indicating that the full name is apparently "It-Newton." A Yelp page for the Beacon Street eatery indicates that it may be featuring Italian, Spanish, and Mediterranean fare.
Appetito, which shut down in early 2014, was an upscale Italian restaurant that offered such items as frutti di mare, bolognese, gnocchi, rack of lamb, and pork tenderloin.
The address for this new restaurant in Newton Centre is 761 Beacon Street, Newton, MA, 02459. Its website will be at http://www.it-newton.com/
[July 27 update: According to a new note from the poster on the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants group page, It-Newton is now called "Central," and the website above now redirects to http://centralnewton.com/ (a menu on the window said it was hoping to open last Friday, but it does not appear to be open yet).]
[July 28 update: A source tells us that Central is now open.]
