A Mexican restaurant on the South Shore has reopened after being forced to shut down by a fire marshal.
According to a poster on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page, Plaza Azteca in Hingham shut down on or around September 13, with a notice out front saying that the Whiting Street spot had closed because of violations of fire safety codes; the codes listed on the notice appeared to refer to furniture issues (according to a mass.gov page), and a subsequent Facebook post from the restaurant indicated that the place had to close because the manufacturer of their new furniture neglected to include a small tag on the furniture, which apparently prompted the fire department to take action. A new Facebook post from Plaza Azteca indicates that it reopened over the weekend. (Thanks to a Twitter poster for bringing this to our attention.)
Plaza Azteca has one other location in Massachusetts (Methuen) and four in Connecticut (Enfield, Manchester, Newington, and Wallingford).
The website for Plaza Azteca in Hingham is 6 Whiting Street, Hingham, MA, 02043. The website for all locations can be found at http://plazaaztecanewengland.com/
