Bertucci's in Kenmore Square Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

Another location of a local chain of Italian restaurants has shut down, leaving only two remaining within the Boston city limits.

According to a source, Bertucci's in Kenmore Square is shuttered with its windows papered over, with a Twitter post from @ByKevinDillon confirming that the Commonwealth Avenue outlet is no longer in operation. The tweet shows a note from the chain saying that "we were unable to renew our lease, as our landlord is renovating the building," while mentioning that they are trying to relocate as many workers as possible to other outlets. The closing of the Kenmore Square location means that the only Bertucci's left in Boston are in the Longwood medical area and in West Roxbury, though others can be found outside of the city, including in Kendall Square and Alewife in Cambridge as well as a number of locations in the suburbs.

Bertucci's shut down its Faneuil Hall restaurant in January, with the chain indicating that that closure was also due to a lease issue.

The address for Bertucci's in Kenmore Square was 533 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215. The website for the chain can be found at http://www.bertuccis.com/
