It looks like a decades-old Italian restaurant on the South Shore is shutting down.
According to a source, Bella's Restaurant in Rockland is closing its doors, with a Facebook post within the Weymouth Foodies group page seeming to confirm this via a note from the Hingham Street dining spot that says it will close at the end of business hours on May 31. There are also rumors that the people behind a restaurant in Boston may be taking over the space, but this has not been confirmed as of yet so stay tuned for any updates that may come in.
Bella's roots date back more than 50 years with the opening of Richardi's Sub Shop in Braintree followed by a number of sub shops in the region, according to the website for the business; the first Bella's restaurant actually opened in Braintree in 1974, with a larger Bella's opening in Rockland in 1986. (Cafe Bella in Randolph is also run by members of the same family.)
The address for Bella's Restaurant in Rockland is 933 Hingham Street, Rockland, MA, 02370. Its website can be found at http://bellasrestaurant.com/
