An upscale Italian restaurant in Cambridge that is known in part for its views of the Charles River has shut down.
According to a note on its website, Restaurant Dante in Cambridge has closed its doors for good, with the note saying "Well, here we go, with tears in our eyes… We are sad to announce the closing of Restaurant Dante. But we are happy to carry with us the countless memories that were born out of 15 amazing years of hospitality." The note does say that il Casale in Belmont and Lexington and The Wellington in Belmont--which are all affiliated with Dante--will remain in operation, with takeout and delivery being offered over the coming weeks.
It is not yet known if the COVID-19 pandemic was either directly or indirectly connected to the shuttering of Restaurant Dante, nor is it known what might go into its space within the Royal Sonesta Hotel; as soon as we find out more information, we will post an update here.
Three brothers--Damian, Dante, and, Filippo de Magistris--are behind Restaurant Dante as well as the two il Casale locations and The Wellington.
The address for Restaurant Dante was 40 Edwin H Land Boulevard, Cambridge, MA, 02142.
