It looks like a brand new dining spot featuring Italian food is on its way to Charlestown.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Johnny Pomodoro is planning to open on Main Street, moving into the former New Speedy Chen's space a few blocks northwest of the Austin Street intersection. The poster and the restaurant's Instagram page both indicate that the place will feature red sauce dishes, with the website for the eatery mentioning salads, garlic knots, subs, and tray pies. The latter item appears to refer to "grandma-style pizza," based on an Instagram post; grandma pizza is popular on Long Island and has some similarities to Sicilian pizza.

[August 30, 2022 update: According to a press release, Johnny Pomodoro plans to open sometime in October, and the pizza will apparently be closer to Detroit-style pizza, which has some similarities to grandma-style pizza and Sicilian pizza.]
