Earlier this year, it was reported that a new co-op cafe was planning to open in one of the former Darwin's locations in Cambrige, and now we have learned that it has debuted, though in a space where another Darwin's had been.
According to a Harvard Crimson article, Circus Cooperative Cafe is now open on Putnam Avenue, with the new spot offering some sandwiches that will be familiar to diners who used to go to Darwin's, along with pastries, coffee, and more. In February, the Crimson had mentioned that the cafe was looking to possibly open in the former Darwin's space on Cambridge Street, though that space will apparently become home to another new eatery called.Asaro Bakery and Cafe.
Darwin's closed its original location in Harvard Square last November, with the other outlets (including a fourth on Massachusetts Avenue) shutting down the following month.
