Dos Manos to Open Brick-and-Mortar Location at the Charles River Speedway in Brighton

The people behind a popup business that features Salvadoran pupusas are going to be opening their very own restaurant.

According to an article from boston.com, Dos Manos is planning to open at the Charles River Speedway on Western Avenue in Brighton, with Edwin and Alexis Orellana bringing the Somerville-based business to a space where they also have had a popup. The article mentions that the brick-and-mortar location of the eatery will move into the space where Rite Tea & Espresso Bar had been until moving to a bigger space within the development and being rebranded as Linger. If all goes as planned, Dos Manos will open sometime in mid-May.

The website for Dos Manos can be found at https://www.dosmanos.online/

Napper Tandy's in Roslindale May Be Replaced by La Hacienda

It looks like a local group of Irish pubs may be closing one of its locations, and it may be replaced by a location of a local group of Mexican/Salvadorian restaurants.

According to a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, Napper Tandy's in Roslindale is petitioning to transfer its license to La Hacienda, which would move into its Washington Street space. If approved, this would leave three locations of Napper Tandy's remaining in Millis, Norwood, and Walpole, while the new location of La Hacienda would join others in East Boston, Everett, and Revere.

The Roslindale location of Napper Tandy's first opened in 2012.

The address for Napper Tandy's in Roslindale (and the proposed La Hacienda) is 4195 Washington Street, Roslindale, MA, 02131. The website for the former is at https://nappertandyspubs.com/ while the website for the latter is at https://www.lahaciendaboston.com/

El Triunfo in Boston's Financial District Closes; Being Replaced by Portofino's

A pair of Salvadoran and Mexican restaurants is now down to just one, and an Italian restaurant will be moving into the space vacated by the now-closed eatery.

Eater Boston reports (via the Chowhound site) that El Triunfo on Broad Street in Boston's Financial District is now shuttered, with Portofino's Italian Kitchen taking over the spot. El Triunfo had also closed its North End restaurant about a month ago, leaving it with one remaining location--on East Berkeley Street in the South End. The article also says that the folks behind Portofino's have a restaurant by the same name in Abington.

Once Portofino's opens (possibly in a month and a half), expect to see a variety of pizzas, calzones, subs, pasta dishes, and salads there.

[August 21 update: According to a poster on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page (and confirmed by the restaurant's website), the new Portofino's in Boston's Financial District is now open.]

The address for Portofino's is 71 Broad Street, Boston, MA, 02109.

A poster on Yelp mentions that Pupuseria Mama Blanca on Maverick Street has shuttered, while a page within the EveryBlock Boston site indicates that La Esquinita has been issued a business license for the space. It appears that the other Blanca locations in East Boston (Blanca's Grill on Bennington Street and Mama Blanca Restaurant on Saratoga Street) remains open. Little is known about La Esquinita at this point in time; keep checking back for updates as we receive them.

Thanks to food writer MC Slim JB for bringing this to our attention (via the Chowhound site).

Tacos Lupita in Somerville is Now Aguacate Verde

A Salvadoran and Mexican restaurant in Somerville that has been in business for a number of years has apparently been sold and now has a new name, though there is little in the way of changes to the menu.

According to posters on Chowhound, Tacos Lupita on Elm Street (near Davis Square and Porter Square) has changed hands, and is now called Aguacate Verde. One of the Chowhound posters mentions that the Tacos Lupita staff still appears to be working at the new dining spot, while another poster states that the menu for Aguacate Verde is more or less the same as the old Tacos Lupita, with only a couple of additions. A check on the new restaurant's website indeed shows items that Tacos Lupita used to serve, including tortas, mulitas, burritos, and gorditas.

Tacos Lupita was a restaurant that had been featured on our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants), with the review at the link below:

http://www.hiddenboston.com/TacosLupita.html

It is not yet know if any changes are being made to the other locations of Tacos Lupita in Haverhill, Lawrence, and Lynn. As soon as we find out more information, we will post an update here.

The address for this new dining spot in Somerville is: Aguacate Verde, 13 Elm Street, Somerville, MA, 02143. The phone number is (617) 666-0677. And the website can be found at: http://www.aguacateverderestaurant.com/

An article within the NorthEndWaterfront.com site indicates that the new El Triunfo in the North End is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with hours being 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
