Mr. Mac's in Tyngsboro and Westford Have Become Mac-n-Choose

A pair of restaurants northwest of Boston that feature macaroni and cheese now have a new name while continuing to focus on the popular comfort food dish.

According to a source, Mr. Mac's in Tyngsboro and Westford are now Mac-n-Choose, with a September 3 Facebook post saying the following:

...as of October 1, 2021, these 2 Mr. Mac's locations: 1) 440 Middlesex Rd. in Tyngsboro, MA, and 2) 175 Littleton Rd. in Westford, MA ...will no longer be associated with the Mr. Mac's franchise system....We are excited to bring new ideas and options together with our new name to you.

The location of Mr. Mac's in Manchester, NH, will not be going through any changes, while the post above mentioned that Mr. Mac's Gift Cards were able to be redeemed at the Tyngsboro and Westford locations through September 30, at which point they could only be redeemed at Mr. Mac's in Manchester.

An earlier post from the homenewshere.com site states that customers will be able to choose from different types of pasta, Cabot cheeses, and toppings, along with whether it is cooked or oven-ready.

Diggy's Pizza Opens in Westford

Another option for Detroit-style pizza has come to Eastern Massachusetts.

According to a source, Diggy's Pizza is now open in Westford, moving into a space in the Westford Plaza on Route 110 (near the Boston Road exit off Route 495). A look at the menu for the new dining spot shows seven options for Detroit-style pizza along with a number of toppings for build-your-own, and meatballs and chicken bites are also available as well.

Detroit-style pizza is a rectangular/square pan pizza that has a thick and crunchy crust, caramelized cheese along the edges, and typically has the sauce placed above the cheese and toppings. Currently, only a handful of places can be found locally for this style of pizza, including Square Mfg. Co. in Natick, Volo in Swampscott, and Avenue Kitchen + Bar in Somerville.

Ocho Cafe Is Opening in the Former British Beer Company Space in Westford

A Connecticut-based pair of Mexican restaurants with one location on the South Shore will be opening a new outlet northwest of Boston.

According to an article from Wicked Local Ocho Cafe is planning to open in Westford, moving into the space on Route 110 that had been home to a location of British Beer Company. The upcoming eatery will join the original restaurant in West Hartford and a second location that opened in the former Margaritas space in Weymouth last year--and Wicked Local mentions that Ocho also has an ownership connection to locations of Frontera Grill and Rio Bravo (a total of 18 locations of the three concepts can be found in New England and elsewhere).

Based on the other locations of Ocho Cafe, expect such options as nachos, ceviche, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, chimichangas, fajitas, chile relleno, carne asada, margaritas, and more at the new outlet.

Rangoli Grill in Westford Has Closed

A suburban Indian restaurant known in part for its customizable meals has shut down permanently.

According to a source, Rangoli Grill in Westford is no longer in business, with a Facebook post from the place saying the following:

After careful consideration, we have made a decision to close Rangoli Grill permanently. This was driven by the current market conditions that have affected us, as they have many other small businesses. We would like to thank all of you for your support during the last 6+ years....We are not sure in what direction we may take this business and our experience, and if it results in a new venture we will once again reach out to all of you. Thank you again for everything

Rangoli was a quick-service dining spot that offered a "chaat bar" along with rice/salad bowls, with customers choosing from an array of fillings and toppings, while beer and wine were available as well.

British Beer Company Opening in Westford

A small local chain of British pubs with eight locations in Massachusetts is about to open its ninth spot, with this one being northwest of Boston.

According to the restaurant's website, the British Beer Company is opening a new restaurant on Route 110 in Westford, in the space where Applebee's had been until closing this past winter. The British Beer Company website mentions that the new Westford location will be opening sometime in August, though a poster on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page who lives in the local area states that it could be opening on August 1. [August 13 update: According to their Facebook page, the British Beer Company in Westford is now open.]

The British Beer Company features a mix of pub food and British specialties, with items on the menu including beer-battered onion rings, sliders, meatloaf, beef stew, macaroni and cheese, fish and chips, bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, and pasty pies. Beers such as Newcastle, Guinness, Samuel Smith, Fullers, and Smithwick's are available.

In addition to the upcoming Westford location, the British Beer Company can be found in Cedarville, Falmouth, Framingham, Hyannis, Pembroke, Plymouth, Sandwich, and Walpole.
