Beard Papa's to Open in Boston's Back Bay

A chain of cream puff shops that once had three locations in Boston will be trying again, with this one coming to the city's Back Bay neighborhood.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Beard Papa's is planning to open on Newbury Street, moving into a space next to Shake Shack just east of the Fairfield Street intersection. Beard Papa's, which has roots in Japan, once had outlets in the Back Bay, Chinatown, and Allston but none of them are in operation anymore.

Poke Bento and Beard Papa's Open in Former Samurai Space in the Back Bay

Earlier this year, we reported that a new dining spot featuring an increasingly trendy food was coming to Boston's Back Bay, and now we learned that it has opened its doors--and it has also teamed up with a place that serves a much different kind of food.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Poke Bento is now open in the former Samurai space on Boylston Street, and it is also home to a location of Beard Papa's as well. The former--as indicated before--features poke, which is a Hawaiian raw fish salad, while the latter features what the place calls the "world's best cream puffs." This appears to be the first location of Poke Bento, while Beard Papa's (which is a chain based in Japan) can be found in Chinatown and Allston.

EB says that a grand opening for Poke Bento and Beard Papa's will be taking place at some point, but in the meantime, both are open to the public.

Beard Papa's Is Opening in Allston

A chain of bakeries based in Japan that claims to have the "world's best cream puffs" is opening a second location in Boston.

According to a licensing board page within the city of Boston website, Bear Papa's has applied for a common victualler license to operate within a space on Brighton Avenue in Allston, with proposed hours for the place being 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM. If approved, the new location of the bakery will join another on Harrison Avenue in Chinatown, along with others across the United States, in Canada, and beyond.

Another location of Beard Papa's had been in Faneuil Hall, but it closed its doors several years ago.

Beard Papa's Is Opening in Boston's Chinatown

A chain of bakeries based in Japan that claims to have the "world's best cream puffs" is coming to Boston...again.

Eater Boston is reporting that Beard Papa's is planning to open in the city's Chinatown neighborhood, with the Harrison Avenue bakery being the sole location in the city, though not the first to come to Boston (the first, which had been located in Faneuil Hall, shut its doors more than five years ago). Once it opens, expect to see a variety of cream puffs along with other treats.

If all goes as planned, it looks like the new location of Beard Papa's will open sometime in April.

[April 10 update: An earlier Facebook post from the bakery mentions that Beard Papa's could be opening in Boston on April 15, though no updates on an exact opening date have come of late.]

[May 4 update: A new article from Eater Boston indicates that Beard Papa's soft-opens today, with its grand opening being on Friday (May 8).]
