A couple of years ago, we reported that a food and cultural market was on its way to a complex in Boston's Fenway that is being redeveloped. Now we have learned that some big local names will be opening places within the food hall.
According to an article in The Boston Globe, Time Out Boston at the old Landmark Center on Park Drive will see such chefs and restaurateurs as Tony Maws (Craigie on Main, Kirkland Tap & Trotter), Michael Schlow (Tico), Tim and Nancy Cushman (Hojoko, O Ya), and Peter Ungar (Tasting Counter), with Maws focusing on his famous Craigie burger, Schlow offering Italian dishes, the Cushmans setting up two kitchens featuring sushi and other Asian fare, and Ungar offering what looks to be inventive, locally-sourced dishes. The article also mentions that outposts of Anoush'ella (a South End restaurant featuring Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare) and Union Square Donuts will set up shop at the food hall as well, with the place ultimately including fifteen restaurants, two bars, a retail shop, and a demo kitchen.
As mentioned earlier, the food hall coming to the Landmark Center will be a location of Lisbon's Time Out Market, which the Time Out media company first opened in Lisbon in 2014.
[April 2 update: A job post within the Craigslist site indicates that the two dining spots from Tim and Nancy Cushman at the upcoming Time Out Boston food hall will apparently be called "Ms. Clucks Deluxe Chicken and Dumplings" and "gogo ya crispy sushi nori tacos."]
[April 22 update: More places have been announced for Time Out Market, with a press release stating that locations of Mamaleh's, BISq, George Howell Coffee, Revolution Health Kitchen, and Gelato & Chill will be opening there, and Michael Schlow--who is already bringing an Italian eatery to the market--will also be opening a second concept that focuses on Roman-style pizza.]
[April 30 update: A post within the jobs section of bostonchefs.com indicates that Peter Ungar of Tasting Counter will be opening Tasty Counter at Time Out Market, with the place featuring "seasonally-inspired, from-scratch small plates composed of locally sourced ingredients."]
[June 18 update: A press release mentions that Time Out Market opens on June 27, and that two more places have been announced for the food hall--Saltie Girl, a seafood restaurant whose original location is in the Back Bay, and Mobile Cooks, which will focus on locally-sourced vegan fare.]

IronBound Marketplace Being Planned for Downtown Lynn

A new indoor/outdoor market is in the works for a North Shore city that is seeing some big redevelopment plans, and it appears that this development may be getting its inspiration from an historic marketplace in downtown Boston.
According to an article in itemlive.com, IronBound Marketplace is being planned for the Cultural District in the downtown area of Lynn, with a food truck emporium debuting at the Mount Vernon Street site on April 21, while a more permanent marketplace would come sometime next year with indoor vendors. (A Facebook events page indicates that the grand opening block party on April 21 will include food trucks as well as food carts, tents, and trailers, along with live music, and art.) The post says that one possibility for IronBound Marketplace is to work with local nonprofits and also getting involved with physical and mental health organizations.
Lynn native Justin Morlee, who is the administrative coordinator of IronBound Marketplace's food truck emporium, says that "Ideally we could see this being like another Faneuil Hall over time."

Food Hall Coming to Best Buy Space at Landmark Center in Boston's Fenway
A complex in Boston's Fenway neighborhood that is being redeveloped will include a food emporium in the space where an electronics chain had been.
According to an article from Bisnow, Samuels & Associates is planning to turn the former Best Buy store at the Landmark Center into a food hall which would spill into an open park area. Few details have been given as of yet on the food hall or other aspects of the development, as this is part of a "sneak preview" of plans for the site; the master plan is expected to be disclosed in about 60 days.
Earlier reports had a Wegmans market going into the Landmark Center, though Samuels & Associates is modifying the expansion plans for the development and it is not known if the grocery store is still part of the plans.
The Landmark Center is located where Brookline Avenue and Park Drive meet.
[October 3 update: Eater Boston states that the food hall coming to the Landmark Center will be a location of Lisbon's Time Out Market, which the Time Out media company first opened in Lisbon in 2014. The article says that a location of the food hall will open in Miami in 2018, while the Boston location is expected to open in 2019--and it will include 16 restaurants, 2 bars, a retail shop, a cooking academy, and outdoor patios.]

Terra Is Opening at Eataly Boston

A new restaurant is coming to a massive Italian emporium that opened in Boston's Back Bay a few months ago, and it will apparently be located above the market.
According to a job post within the bostonchefs.com site, a "rooftop" restaurant called Terra is opening at Eataly Boston in the Prudential Center, with the dining spot featuring a wood-fired grill and "regional Italian inspired dishes." The post indicates that the menu will include a number of items from the market below, including dry-aged meats, house-made pasta, fresh seafood, and more, with charcuterie and house-made sausage being mentioned. Two posts on the bostonchefs site show that Terra is currently looking for line cooks and a sous chef.
Eataly Boston opened its doors in late November, moving into the space where the Pru food court had been. Celebrity chef Mario Batali is one of the partners involved with Eataly, which has locations in Manhattan's Flatiron area, Lower Manhattan, Chicago, and Los Angeles, along with others in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Mario Batali's Eataly May Be Coming to Boston
It looks like a celebrity chef might be bringing a location of his popular Manhattan emporium to Boston.
The Boston Globe is reporting that Mario Batali and his business partners are checking out sites in Boston as possible locations of Eataly, a huge Italian marketplace that first opened in 2010 in the Madison Square section of New York. The article says one site that they are looking at is Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market, though they are also interested in the city's Back Bay neighborhood as well as other parts of Boston. If Eataly does come to the city, it wouldn't open until at least 2015.
The Globe article says that another Eataly--which will be even bigger than the original--is opening in Chicago this month.
[February 13, 2015 update: It appears that things may be moving forward with Eataly coming to Boston, as a response from Mario Batali last week to a follower's Twitter question on news about the place was, "we are very close !!!"]
