The Cookie Monstah Plans to Open in Newtonville

It looks like a local business that is known in part for its ice cream sandwiches may be opening another outlet, with this one being in the western suburbs of Boston.

According to a source, The Cookie Monstah is planning to open at the Trio Newton mixed-use development at the corner of Walnut Street and Washington Street in Newtonville, with a post within the Newton Real Estate Forum Facebook group page mentioning that a lease has been signed for the new location. Once it opens, the new shop will join others in Beverly, Burlington, Danvers, Needham, North Andover, and Swampscott.

Frozen Hoagies in Somerville Has Closed

A Somerville shop that features ice cream sandwiches has shut down.

According to Somerville resident Ron Newman, Frozen Hoagies on Broadway by Powder House Circle is no longer in operation, with a note at the top of the website for the business saying that the store has permanently closed. The shop, which debuted in the fall of 2014, was opened by the people behind an ice cream sandwich truck by the same name and featured items made using ice cream from Rancatore's in Lexington and house-made cookies.

The Frozen Hoagies website says that its other shop on Main Street in Winchester remains in operation.

The Cookie Monstah Opens in Swampscott

A local business that sells ice cream sandwiches from a pair of bake shops as well as from a food truck has expanded to a third brick-and-mortar location.

According to a source, The Cookie Monstah is now open in Swampscott, joining other stores in Burlington and Danvers along with a food truck that has been off the road due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is returning later this week. A Patch article mentions that founder Melissa Gale opened the new shop over the weekend, and that it will be open Tuesday through Sunday starting at noon each day (closing time is 9:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, and 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays).

The Cookie Monstah, which started out as a food truck in 2014, offers cookies, ice cream, and ice cream sandwiches.

Frozen Hoagies Is Opening in Winchester

It looks like the people behind an ice cream sandwich truck and a brick-and-mortar shop are going to be opening another store.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Frozen Hoagies is opening in Winchester Center, taking over the space on Main Street where Winchester Limited Jewelers had been. Once it opens, the new shop will join its other brick-and-mortar location by Powder House Circle in Somerville along with its food truck (which is set up at several locations in Boston), and based on the offerings at its store and truck, expect to see ice cream sandwiches made with a wide variety of cookies and ice cream flavors.

It is not yet known exactly when the new location of Frozen Hoagies will open, as the sign out front simply says "Coming Soon."

The Cookie Monstah Opens Brick-and-Mortar Bake Shop in Danvers

A local food truck that was once featured on the Travel Channel now has a brick-and-mortar shop.

According to a Facebook post from the business, The Cookie Monstah bake shop is now open on Route 1 in Danvers, with the place offering cookies, ice cream, and ice cream sandwiches. The store joins its food truck which can be found in several Boston locations, including the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the Back Bay, Boston Common, and the Financial District.

The Cookie Monstah was once featured on Andrew Zimmern's series "Bizarre Food: Delicious Destinations."
