American Lamb Jam Returns to Cambridge, February 17, 2013

A culinary competition that features all kinds of lamb dishes will be returning to Cambridge once again in February, and as always, chefs from a number of Boston-area restaurants will be taking part in the event.

An email received from Baltz and Company indicates that the fourth annual American Lamb Jam will be held on Sunday, February 17, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Charles Hotel on Bennett Street in Harvard Square. The event will have chefs creating lamb-based dishes as they compete for the title of Boston Lamb Jam Master, which will also allow them to compete against other regional winners at the national Lamb Jam Finale in New York City in the fall. In addition to lamb items, guests will also be able to enjoy beer and wine, as well as butchery demos.

Chefs who are participating in the 2013 American Lamb Jam include Brian Alberg (Red Lion Inn), Nuno Alves and Chris Douglass (Tavolo), Franco Carubia (Sel de la Terre), Peter Davis (Henrietta's Table), Rich Garcia (606 Congress), Justin Melnick (The Terrace), Cassie Piuma (Oleana), Brian Rae (Rialto), Brian Reyelt (Citizen), Michael Scelfo (Russell House Tavern), Robert Sisca (Bistro du Midi), and Jim Solomon (The Fireplace).

American Lamb Jam to Be Held in Cambridge, February 19, 2012

A culinary competition that focuses on lamb is returning to Cambridge next month, and once again, a number of area chefs will be participating.

An email received from Baltz and Company indicates that the third annual American Lamb Jam will be held on Sunday, February 19, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square. Once again, The American Lamb Board is partnering with BostonChefs.com for this event, which will feature an array of lamb dishes created by chefs from 606 Congress, Bistro du Midi, Citizen, Clink, Garden at the Cellar, Henrietta's Table, La Laiterie Bistro, Oleana, Pain D'Avignon, Storyville, Red Lion Inn, Rialto, Russell House Tavern, Sel de la Terre, Summer Winter, Tavolo, The Fireplace, and Tomasso Trattoria. Lamb dishes will be paired with beers from area breweries, including Berkshire Brewing Company, Blue Hills Brewery, Cape Ann Brewing, Harpoon Brewery, Ipswich Ale, Mayflower Brewing Company, Pretty Things Beer and Rapscallion. In addition to sampling lamb dishes, guests of the event will also be able to view butchery demonstrations by Chris Douglass and Nuno Alves of Tavolo as well as Josh Pert of the Meat House. The event will be hosted by Billy Costa of TV Diner.

Chefs who are participating in the American Lamb Jam will compete for the title of Boston Lamb Master, along with an opportunity to face other chefs at a Master Lamb Jam in the fall.

Tickets to the 2012 American Lamb Jam cost $50 each and include all food and beverages.

Monsters of Pork do American Lamb Event Coming to Boston, April 2, 2011

Last fall, a culinary event that featured pork butchery demos and pork dishes was held in downtown Boston, and now, a similar event focusing on lamb will be held in the South End.

According to wheretoeat.in, the Monsters of Pork do American Lamb will be taking place at The Gallows on Washington Street on Saturday, April 2. The event, which goes from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, will include lamb butchery demonstrations, as well as samples of various lamb-based dishes. (Guests will also receive a complimentary Jagermeister cocktail.) The "Monsters of Pork" for the event are Will Gilson (Garden at the Cellar), Nuno Alves (Tavolo Ristorante), and Vadim Akimenko (Akimenko Meats).

The lamb supplied for the Monsters of Pork do American Lamb event will be provided by the American Lamb Board.

Tickets to this event cost $25.

American Lamb Jam Coming to Cambridge, February 20, 2011

Lamb lovers take note: The Boston area is gearing up for a lamb-based culinary event that will be returning here in February.

An email sent to us from Baltz and Company indicates that the second annual American Lamb Jam will be held at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge's Harvard Square on Sunday, February 20, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The event, which partners The American Lamb Board with BostonChefs.com, will feature a number of lamb dishes created by chefs from area restaurants, along with wine and local beers. Chefs from such restaurants as 606 Congress, Bondir, Gargoyles on the Square, Oleana, Russell House Tavern, Tomasso Trattoria, and other spots will be competing for the opportunity to face off against top chefs at a Master Lamb Jam in New York City this coming September.

Breweries at the American Lamb Jam will include Berkshire Brewing Company, Blue Hills Brewery, Cape Ann Brewing Company, Harpoon Brewery, Ipswich Ale, Mayflower Brewing Company and Rapscallion.

Tickets to the 2011 American Lamb Jam, which will be hosted by TV Diner's Billy Costa, cost $50 each and include tastes of 16 lamb dishes along with beer and wine. Some of the proceeds will be going to Lovin' Spoonfuls, a Boston-based non-profit organization whose mission is to help eradicate hunger in Massachusetts.
