It looks like a different kind of outdoor drinking spot is on its way to Boston.

According to its Instagram page, Sentenced To Sip is opening at the site of Alibi Bar & Lounge at The Liberty Hotel on Charles Street, with a post from the business saying "we're spilling the beans… you've officially been sentenced to sip at Boston's first espresso martini garden.... open to the public on saturday, june 13th — reservations encouraged — see you then." The website for Alibi indicates that the martini garden will open at the outdoor patio of the lounge, saying that "Our outdoor space has been transformed into an open-air espresso martini destination complete with twinkling string lights, lush seasonal décor, and a vibrant atmosphere perfect for warm summer nights."

The address for Sentenced To Sip (and Alibi Bar & Lounge) is 215 Charles Street, Boston, MA, 02114. The website for Alibi can be found at https://www.alibiboston.com/

Scosso Is Opening in Peabody

A new Italian restaurant is coming to the North Shore, opening in the space where a location of a chain of Italian dining spots used to be.

A job post on the Craigslist site indicates that Scosso is coming to the Northshore Mall in Peabody, with an expected opening date of October 28 for the restaurant. An earlier Peabody Patch article mentions that the restaurant will be taking over the space where Bertucci's had been until closing in 2009, and that the owners of the new place also run the Venetian Moon Ristorante in Reading Center. (It looks like Scosso will be similar to that spot, with a martini bar included within the space.)

[October 16 update: A more recent job post on Craigslist mentions that Scosso is now planning to open on November 11.]

The address for this upcoming Italian restaurant at the Northshore Mall is: Scosso, 210 Andover Street, Peabody, MA, 01960.

Tonic Is Opening in Jamaica Plain

It looks like a martini bar is planning to open near the Forest Hills T station in Jamaica Plain.

According to The Boston Real Estate Blog, the person behind the upcoming Tonic on Washington Street is in talks with local groups to cement the plans for bringing the restaurant and bar to the neighborhood. The blog mentions that the owner has a liquor license for the place, which, according to an earlier article from Grub Street Boston, may be a bit like Vee Vee and Ten Tables, a couple of upscale neighborhood bistros in Jamaica Plain.

Tonic will be taking over the space where Griffin's Cafe, a now-closed neighborhood watering hole, used to be.

It is not known exactly when Tonic might open; as soon as we find out more information, we will post an update here.

[April 9, 2012 update: The Thrillist site indicates that Tonic appears to be on the verge of opening. (Thanks to food writer MC Slim JB for bringing this to our attention via Chowhound.)]

[April 12, 2012 update: According to CBH Communications,  Tonic will be opening on Saturday (April 14) at 5:00 PM.]

The address for this new martini bar in the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain will be: Tonic, 3698 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130.
