Grillo's Pickles Closing Its Brick-and-Mortar Shop in Cambridge's Inman Square

A local company that focuses on pickles is closing its brick-and-mortar shop more than three years after opening it as what initially had been considered a temporary pop-up.

Eater Boston is reporting that Grillo's Pickles is shutting down its store on Cambridge Street in the Inman Square section of Cambridge, though a note on its Instagram page says it hopes to pop up again somewhere else soon. (It is not yet known whether the new location will be temporary or permanent.) Both EB and Grillo's say that the pickle company will continue to sell its products at grocery stores on the East Coast, and it is presumed that they will still be available at various farmers markets around the region.

The brick-and-mortar location of Grillo's Pickles initially opened as a pop-up shop in January of 2012, while the business itself first started out in 2008 with owner Travis Grillo debuting a pickle cart on Boston Common one year later.

The address for the Grillo's shop in Inman Square is 1075 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139. Its website can be found at http://www.grillospickles.com/

Grillo's Pickles in Cambridge's Inman Square May Be Staying Open Through 2012

It looks like the folks behind a pickle cart on Boston Common who opened a temporary "pop-up" shop in the Inman Square section of Cambridge may be sticking around Inman Square for quite a bit longer than previously thought.

Based on information from both a Chowhound poster and the shop's Twitter page, it appears that the Grillo's Pickles shop on Cambridge Street might remain open through at least the end of 2012. The initial plan (as mentioned in an earlier article here) had been to be open from January of this year through March, but now it looks like the shop will be around for many more months than originally expected. (Our earlier article did mention that the owner of Grillo's Pickles had been considering a permanent location of the pickle shop depending on its success, but it is too early to tell whether the Cambridge Street location will become permanent.)

The address for the Grillo's Pickles shop in Inman Square is: Grillo's Pickles, 1079 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA, 02141. Their website can be found at http://grillospickles.com/

Grillo's Pickles to Open a Pickle Shop in the Boston Area

A local company that runs a pickle cart on Boston Common and sells pickles at various markets and stores around the region is going to be opening a brick-and-mortar pickle shop in the Boston area early next year.

According to Adam's Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog, Grillo's Pickles is planning to open a shop somewhere in the city, with a possible opening between January and March of 2012. The article mentions that if the pickle shop opens in Boston, it will be the first one of its kind to open in the city.

[December 11 update: More details on this story--according to the Boston Magazine Chowder blog, Grillo's Pickles is planning to open a pop-up pickle shop off of Prospect Street near Cambridge's Inman Square. The article mentions that while it will be a three-month venture, the owner may decide to create a permanent location of the pickle shop depending on its success. Expect the place to open in the second week of January, with an expected end date sometime around the end of March.]
