Menya Jiro Opens in Dedham

Last spring, it was reported that an award-winning group of ramen spots would be opening its second outlet in the Greater Boston area. Now we have learned that the place is up and running.

According to a press release, Menya Jiro is now open in Dedham, moving into a space at Legacy Place across the parking lot from Gap and next to Urban Outfitters. The new location of the Japan-based group of restaurants joins another in Cambridge's Harvard Square, and in addition to ramen and other options, the new outlet also features yakitori-style skewered meats, seafood, and veggies that are grilled over hot coals.

Menya Jiro, which also has locations in New York City and is looking at opening another outlet in Boston's Seaport District, has been mentioned by Thrillist as being one of "The Best Ramen Restaurants in America."

The address for Menya Jiro in Dedham is 756 Legacy Place, Dedham, MA, 02026. The website for the Boston-area locations of Menya Jiro can be found at https://menyajiro-boston.com/

Tori Jiro Opens at Arsenal Yards in Watertown

A Boston-area location of an international group of yakitori restaurants is in the process of opening after being in the works for more than two years.

A message sent by Leah Klein of City Living Boston indicates that Tori Jiro was open for business yesterday at Arsenal Yards in East Watertown, with a Google Docs page indicating that the dining spot appears to be in the middle of a soft opening (the page had included a form for people interested in being invited to its soft opening, though the form has since been removed). As mentioned earlier, the eatery is expected to feature such items as char-broiled yakitori, which are bite-sized pieces of chicken on skewers; karaage, or Japanese fried chicken; and charcoal-grilled chicken meatballs with tare, which is a sweet soy-based sauce.

As was also mentioned earlier, this is the first location of Tori Jiro in the United States.

The website for Tori Jiro can be found at https://torijirousa.com/

Yakitori Totto, Shake Shack Are Coming to Somerville's Assembly Row

It looks like two big names are on their way to a growing mixed-use development in Somerville.

According to a source, Yakitori Totto and Shake Shack are planning to open at Assembly Row, with a page within federalrealty.com listing both restaurants within the tenant roster section. Yakitori Totto is a highly-rated Japanese restaurant in New York that features grilled chicken on skewers, and was once shown on America's Best Bites, while celebrity chef, author, and television personality Anthony Bourdain (who passed away in 2018) once took CNN's Anderson Cooper to dinner there and said that "I totally recommend the Skin, it's crunchy and delicious!" according to the website for the place. Shake Shack, which has seven locations in the Greater Boston area, also has its roots in New York City, having started out there approximately 20 years ago.

It isn't yet known when Yakitori Totto or Shake Shack might open at Assembly Row, so stay tuned for updates.
