b.good Family BBQ Returning to Boston's South End, August 4, 2013

A local chain of restaurants is hosting a charity BBQ event once again this weekend, and once again it will be held in the SoWa section of Boston's South End.

According to a boston.com article, b.good is going be holding its 10th annual Family BBQ at the SoWa Open Market on Harrison Avenue on Sunday, August 4 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with an email from b.good mentioning that the festivities will include all-you-can eat food, Harpoon beer, and Ben & Jerry's ice cream, along with live music, dunk tanks, and games. Tickets to the event cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door (kids are free), with proceeds going to local charities.

Seta's Cafe Is Opening in Belmont

A new Mediterranean restaurant is on its way to Belmont, and the person behind it may be familiar to some.

According to a poster on the Chowhound site (and confirmed on Facebook), Seta's Cafe is going to be opening on Belmont Street, moving into the space where Chicken Express had been. Seta Dakessian may be known to folks who go to farmers markets, as she sells her Mediterranean items at such markets as Copley Square and Dewey Square in Boston and Union Square in Somerville. Based on some of the foods she sells at the farmers markets, the new cafe may be offering falafel, Greek salads, spinach pie, hummus, babaganoush, and more.

It appears that Seta's Cafe may be opening later this month.

A Final Farewell to Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston [Photos]

After 50 years in business, Anthony's Pier 4 closed its doors on the Boston waterfront last night, and while there is still talk that the landmark restaurant might reopen in a new space nearby, the original building will eventually be gone, making way for what may be parkland. Below are a few photos taken of Anthony's yesterday evening, shortly before the dining spot said farewell for now (and possibly forever).

The Parlour Pizza Is Opening in the Former Upper Crust Location in West Roxbury

In what sounds like a broken record, it looks like a new pizza spot may be moving into a former Upper Crust Pizzeria location.

Universal Hub is reporting that Parlor Pizza could be taking over the old UC space on Centre Street in West Roxbury, with the Boston Licensing Board looking into the plans for it next week. If approved, Parlor Pizza would continue a trend of pizza spots opening in old Upper Crust locations, with the Back Bay location being taken over by The Proper Slice, the Harvard Square shop becoming The Just Crust, and the Hingham location becoming Peel Pizza. (The West Roxbury shop, which was an independent location of Upper Crust, closed in late June.)

[October 15 update: According to one of our readers (and confirmed by the WestRoxbury Patch), this spot is now open, and its name is The Parlour, not Parlor Pizza as was originally thought. The Patch also mentions that the new restaurant features a pizza parlor, meatball parlor, and ice cream parlor all in one.]

Upper Crust Pizzeria in West Roxbury Is Closing

Churn 2 (a New Ice Cream Spot) is Coming to Cambridge's Harvard Square

It looks like a new ice cream spot is coming to the Harvard Square section of Cambridge, though the place seems to be difficult to classify.

A recent PDF file within the City of Cambridge website includes a conversation with Crista Milley, who will be the manager of Churn 2, a proposed ice cream business located on private property on Oxford Street. Some of the discussion recorded within the file includes confusion as to what exactly Churn 2is, with the place being possibly considered an ice cream truck without wheels, a cart, a stand, and a "transient vendor,"and an article from Eater Boston that appears to be talking about the same business is calling it a pop-up ice cream shop, based on a Craigslist job post. Classification of the business aside, Churn 2would be open seven days a week, and plans to be up and running sometime in late August.

Darwin's to Open a New Location in Royal Bengal Space in Cambridge

It looks like the folks behind a pair of sandwich places in Cambridge are opening a third, with this one being just east of Central Square near MIT.

A hearing notice within the City of Cambridge website mentions that Darwin's Ltd. is planning to open on Mass. Ave., with the address being the same as that of Royal Bengal. The note says that the new restaurant would have seating for 19 and would be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, and that no alcohol would be served. Based on the other two Darwin's locations (Mt. Auburn Street in Harvard Square and Cambridge Street west of Inman Square), the outlet on Mass. Ave. would likely have an array of hot and cold sandwiches as well as tea and coffee.

The hearing will take place on Tuesday, August 6, with the city considering Darwin's request for a common victualer license.
