Comella's Is Opening in the Former Salsa's Space in Hingham

A local group of Italian food retailers and caterers is in expansion mode once again, this time looking to move into the South Shore space where a now-closed Mexican restaurant had been.

According to a source, Comella's is planning to open in Hingham, taking over the former Salsa's spot on Lincoln Street; a check on the town website confirms this, with an earlier post on the site showing that a license transfer from Salsa's to Comella's had been looked at by the board of selectmen. Once the new location of Comella's opens, it will join other shops in Arlington [ed note--now closed], Belmont, Chestnut Hill, Concord, Marblehead, Melrose, Natick, Needham, Wellesley, West Newton, West Roxbury, and Westwood.

[January 28, 2016 update: According to an article in the Arlington Advocate, the new Comella's in Hingham plans to open by the spring.]

[May 13, 2016 update: One of our sources mentions that the new location of Comella's in Hingham is now open, and it is apparently the first location to have a full bar.]

Salsa's closed its Hingham location over the past summer, while its other location on Dorchester Street in South Boston closed "for renovations" in November, though it appears that it may be closed for good.

The address for this new Italian eatery in Hingham is: Comella's, 211 Lincoln Street (Route 3A), Hingham, MA, 02043. The website for the group can be found at http://www.comellasrestaurants.com/
