Tea by the Sea Opens in East Boston

A brand new bubble tea shop has come to the waterfront.

According to a post from Caught in Eastie, Tea by the Sea is now open on Sumner Street in East Boston, moving into a space at The Mark luxury waterfront condo development. The post mentions that the new shop offers fresh fruit tea, bubble tea, cheese foam traditional tea, coffee, fruit yakult, and coconut milk slush.

Tea by the Sea is open from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM seven days a week.

Painted Plover Provisions Plans to Open in East Boston

It looks like a new food shop may be on its way to East Boston.

According to an article from Universal Hub, Painted Plover Provisions is planning to open on Liverpool Street near Central Square, with the proposed spot offering salads, gelato, fresh sodas and seltzers, and handmade gifts and regional items. The post mentions that owner Holly Mulone is looking to have about 20 seats in the shop as well, and that she hopes that it becomes a "community meeting space."

Blue Caboose Ice Cream and Coffee to Open in East Boston

An historic railroad car just up the street from the East Boston waterfront is being converted into an ice cream stand.

According to a source, Blue Caboose Ice Cream and Coffee is getting ready to open in Eastie, with the business being run out of a refurbished caboose along the East Boston Greenway near the piers and the edge of the Jeffries Point neighborhood. An Instagram page for the business says that it will be "approaching soon," though no opening date has been given as of yet. (The latest IG post mentions that it will be selling Crescent Ridge ice cream.)

EBO & Co. Grocery Is Opening in East Boston

The founder of a business that hosts oyster- and caviar-based popup events is going to be opening a brick-and-mortar neighborhood market.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Alexis Cervasio of East Boston Oysters is planning to open EBO & Co. Grocery at an undisclosed location in Eastie, with the store carrying everyday items along with oysters, caviar, sake, cheese, coffee, produce, natural wines, and more. In the article, Cervasio says that "Our entire mission is to make things like oysters and caviar more approachable, so I think it will be fun to have some old-timers in there trying caviar for maybe the first time....The timing feels right personally, and I know that the neighborhood is ready for it."

Downeast Cider to Expand to Boston Harbor Shipyard in East Boston

A few months ago, we reported that a local company that makes hard cider had outgrown its home and needed to find a new space. Now we have learned where its new home will be.

According to an article in Boston Magazine, Downeast Cider in Charlestown will be expanding to the Boston Harbor Shipyard on Marginal Street in East Boston, with the 16,000-square-foot space tripling its production space and allowing them the potential to produce ten times the amount of cider that they make now. (Currently, they produce 20,000 barrels per year out of their Terminal Street space.) The article says that the East Boston space will need major renovations, but if all goes well, Downeast Cider could be up and running in their new home in the middle of 2016--and they hope to extend the lease in Charlestown while the new facility is being brought up to speed.

Downeast Cider first started out in Maine back in 2011.
