Pinsa Piazza Plans to Open in the Former Taranta Space in Boston's North End

Late last year, it looked like a new restaurant serving all-day breakfast and pizza was looking to open in the North End of Boston, and now it appears that the place may have a different name, though it isn't known if the exact concept will be the same.

According to a source, Pinsa Piazza is planning to open on Hanover Street in the former Taranta space, with a photo showing a sign mentioning that it will be featuring Roman pizza made via a 72-hour fermentation process. A check within the bizapedia.com website indicates that the upcoming spot has a connection to Dolvero LLC, which had been looking to open Maria Forno in that space (and at the time, it was noted that the name could just be a placeholder).

The address for the upcoming Pinsa Piazza in the North End is 210 Hanover Street, Boston, MA, 02113.

CeCarré Pizza & Provisions Opens at the Prudential Center in Boston's Back Bay

A new pizza spot has come to Boston, and it takes over the space where another pizzeria had been until shuttering as it gets ready to make a move.

According to a source (Gary Goldblatt), CeCarré Pizza & Provisions is now open at the Prudential Center in the Back Bay, with an Instagram post from the business saying that it has moved into the former Descendant Detroit Style Pizza space. The new eatery offers Roman-style pizza with a variety of toppings including ones with global influences (some toppings include chicken tikka masala, caviar, edible gold, sumac, mint, and harissa chicken). In addition to pizza, CeCarré Pizza & Provisions also offers such options as meatballs, arancini, salads, sandwiches, cannoli, and cookies.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Descendant Detroit Style Pizza would be moving from the Pru to Revere Beach.

The website for CeCarré Pizza & Provisions can be found at https://cecarre.com/

Gary's Pizza Is Opening in Boston's South End

A local hospitality group is going to be opening a Roman-style pizza spot in the South End of Boston.

According to a post within the South End Community Board, Gary's Pizza is planning to open on Washington Street, with Columbus Hospitality Group (Mistral, Sorellina, Mooo..., Ostra) being behind the place. The website for the restaurant indicates that in addition to Roman-style pizza, it will also offer sandwiches and desserts, though no specific details have been given as of yet. [Ed note: Roman-style pizza typically--but not always--refers to thick and airy rectangular slices that are baked in a pan.]

The address for Gary's Pizza in the South End is 1744 Washington Street, Boston, MA, 02118. Its website can be found at https://garyspizzaboston.com/

[April 18 update: According to multiple sources, Gary's Pizza is now open.]

Mr. Roni Cups Opens within Upcoming Bianca Space at The Street in Chestnut Hill

A couple of years ago, it was reported that the husband and wife team behind two of Boston's best-known restaurants would be opening a new spot in Chestnut Hill, and it was subsequently reported that a pizzeria with a different name would open within the space as well. Now we have learned that the pizzeria is open, though the restaurant itself is still not open.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Mr. Roni Cups opens today within the upcoming Bianca space at The Street in Chestnut Hill, with the takeout/delivery spot offering Roman-style pizza that is cut into squares using scissors, while the space itself has both indoor and outdoor seating. The post mentions that the opening menu also includes such items as soup, salads, rotisserie chicken, sushi, cocktails, donuts, and more along with the aforementioned pizza, which can be ordered by the slice or as a half or full pan. (No opening date has been given for Bianca, which will serve "cosmic continental" fare.)

The Cushmans are behind o ya, a sushi spot in Boston's Leather District, and Hojoko, an eclectic izakaya inside the Verb Hotel in the Fenway.
