Ginger Betty's in Quincy Brings Off Boardwalk Betty's to Marina Bay

A bakery in Quincy that focuses on gingerbread products is now selling its treats at a market and deli on the other side of the city.

According to a source, Ginger Betty's on Samoset Avenue (between the downtown area and Hough's Neck/Germantown) has debuted "Off Boardwalk Betty's," with its items being sold within the Marina Bay Marketplace on Victory Road in the Marina Bay section of Quincy. A Constant Contact post from the bakery says that it is open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily and is now serving "Off Boardwalk Betty's Pizza" (a breakfast pizza) in addition to its gingerbread products.

The Marina Bay Marketplace is a place to get groceries, grab-and-go meals, beer, and wine, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. (It also offers catering and delivery services.)

A Spoonful of Ginger Returns to Boston, March 17, 2014

A culinary event returns to the Museum of Fine Arts in March, and once again, a number of local chefs will be participating.

On Monday, March 17, the Joslin Diabetes Center will be presenting A Spoonful of Ginger within the Art of the Americas wing of the Museum of Fine Arts on Huntington Avenue, with the event running from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. At this year's event, guests will be able to try an array of ginger-based dishes from such chefs as David Becker of Sweet Basil, Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery and Myers + Chang, Andy Husbands of Tremont 647, Kevin Long of Empire, and Jasper White of Summer Shack.

Tickets to the 2014 Spoonful of Ginger cost $250 for general admission, with proceeds going to the Joslin Diabetes Center's Asian American Diabetes Initiative. For more information on this event, please go to the link below:

A Spoonful of Ginger to Be Held at the Museum of Fine Arts Tonight (March 18, 2013)

A culinary event that focuses on a particular spice returns to the Museum of Fine Arts tonight.

According to the Joslin Diabetes Center site, A Spoonful of Ginger will be taking place within the Art of the Americas wing of the MFA this evening from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. As always, guests will be able to partake in ginger-based food items from some well-known chefs in and around Boston, with Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery and Myers + Chang, Andy Husbands of Tremont 647, Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger and Blue Dragon, and Jasper White of Summer Shack being at the event.

Ginger Explosion 4 to Be Held in Somerville, January 28, 2013

A culinary event that centers around ginger is returning to Somerville once again later this month, and as always, several local food places will be taking part in the event.

On Monday, January 28 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Ginger Explosion 4 will be held at P.A.'s Lounge on Somerville Avenue, with the event including samplings of ginger-based food dishes and ginger cocktails. Participants this year include Dosa N Curry, Mei Mei Street Food, Roxy's Grilled Cheese, and Staff Meal, along with Domaine de Canton (which will be involved with the ginger cocktails).

Tickets to the event cost $13, with proceeds helping to support the Somerville Arts Council's ArtsUnion project, which helps increase the cultural economic development of Somerville's Union Square neighborhood. A Spoonful of Ginger Coming to the Museum of Fine Arts, March 26, 2012

A culinary event that focuses on a popular spice--and raises money for a good cause--returns once again to the Museum of Fine Arts in March.

An email sent to us by Regan Communications indicates that the Eighth Annual Spoonful of Ginger is going to be held at the new Art of the Americas wing at the MFA on Monday, March 26 starting at 6:30 PM. This year, guests will be able to taste ginger-based dishes from such chefs as Jasper White of Summer Shack, Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery and Myers + Chang, Jose Duarte of Taranta, Jacky Robert of Petit Robert Bistro, and Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley's Bistro. The event helps raise money for the Joslin Diabetes Center's Asian American Diabetes Initiative (AADI), whose goal is to enhance the quality of life and health outcomes for Asian Americans who are living with diabetes, as well as working with Joslin to find a cure.

Ginger Explosion 3 Is Coming to Somerville, February 6, 2012

A culinary event that focuses on ginger is returning to Somerville early next month, and once again, a few Boston-area spots will be participating.

According to wheretoeat.in, Ginger Explosion 3 is going to take place at P.A.'s Lounge on Somerville Avenue on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The event will include samplings of ginger-based food dishes from Bambara in Cambridge, Dosa Temple in Somerville, the Herb Lyceum in Groton, and Petit Robert Bistro in Boston and Needham. Tickets to the event cost $13 (they go on sale at 4:00 PM today), with the price of admission including a complimentary ginger cocktail from Domaine de Canton. Proceeds from the event support the Somerville Arts Council's ArtsUnion project, which helps increase the cultural economic development of the Union Square section of Somerville.

Ginger Explosion 2 to Be Held in Somerville, January 26, 2011

A culinary event focusing on a specific spice is coming to Somerville in late January, with several restaurants participating.

According to the wheretoeat.in website, Ginger Explosion 2 will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at P.A.'s Lounge in Somerville. The event will feature samplings of various ginger-based dishes from area restaurants, including Bambara, Garden at the Cellar, KO Prime, Petit Robert Bistro, and Ronnarong Thai Tapas.

Tickets to Ginger Explosion 2 cost $13, with proceeds supporting the Somerville Arts Council's ArtsUnion project, which helps increase the cultural economic development of Somerville's Union Square neighborhood. Guests to the event will receive a complimentary ginger cocktail from Domaine de Canton.

P.A.'s Lounge is located at 345 Somerville Avenue, which is just west of the heart of Union Square (about a block west of the Washington Street intersection).
