A waterside restaurant that features Italian fare and seafood is going to be joined by a new concept that focuses on pizza.
According to food/drinks writer and publicist Kerry Byrne, Boardwalk Pizza at Victory Point is planning to open in the Marina Bay section of Quincy, with the place focusing on takeout and delivery and offering thin-crust pies sold whole or by the slice and using a lighter Italian cheese blend along with local herbs, produce, locally-sourced seafood such as clams and lobster, and house-made sauce as well as sea salt mixed into the dough. (Salads and sandwiches will also be available at the new spot.) Donato Frattaroli Jr., who is behind Victory Point, will also be behind Boardwalk Pizza, with he and his family being known for such restaurants on Boston's North End as Il Molo and Artu.
More information on Boardwalk Pizza will be coming soon, so stay tuned for updates.
The address for Boardwalk Pizza (and Victory Point) is 332 Victory Road, Quincy, MA, 02171.

ReelHouse in East Boston Plans to Open Second Location at Marina Bay in Quincy
by Marc Hurwitz
A waterfront restaurant in East Boston that features seafood dishes with global influences is looking to open another location along the water, with this one being a few miles south of Boston.
According to an article from n-magazine.com, ReelHouse is planning to open at Marina Bay in Quincy, with the post saying that owner Charlie Larner is also thinking about bringing a restaurant to Nantucket while also preparing to open a new location of Mija Cantina at Logan Airport as well (the original location of Mija is in Boston's Faneuil Hall). Very little is known about the upcoming location of ReelHouse, including its exact location at Marina Bay and when it might open, so keep checking back for updates.
ReelHouse first opened at The Eddy apartment complex in East Boston in April of 2017, with Larner's Navy Yard Hospitality Group being behind it while its menu is led by Culinary Director Marc Orfaly (Pigalle, The Beehive). In addition to ReelHouse and Mija, Larner's restaurant group also runs Pier 6 in Charlestown.
The website for ReelHouse can be found at https://www.reelhouseboston.com/
[August 24 update: Eater Boston states that ReelHouse will open at the Meriel Marina Bay luxury apartment complex and that Marc Orfaly will be the opening chef when it debuts.]
[June 20, 2019 update: Boston Magazine indicates that ReelHouse opens its new location at Marina Bay tomorrow (Friday, June 21).]

Captain Fishbones in Quincy's Marina Bay to Become Victory Point
by Marc Hurwitz
A waterside seafood restaurant that changed ownership a bit more than a year ago is going to be reconcepted.
According to Kerry Byrne, who posted the news on the Quincy Is Everything Facebook group page today, Captain Fishbones in the Marina Bay section of Quincy is going to go through major renovations this spring, reopening at some point this year as Victory Point. Byrne says that the new dining spot will focus on lighter seasonal summer fare with the focus apparently remaining on seafood, and the place will have what Byrne calls a "breezy waterfront New England vibe."
Captain Fishbones was sold to a new team in late 2016 that includes Donato Frattaroli and Donato Frattaroli, Jr.; the Frattaroli family is involved with a number of restaurants in the Boston area, including such spots as Artu and il Molo in Boston's North End.
The address for Captain Fishbones (and the upcoming Victory Point) is 332 Victory Road, Quincy, MA, 02171.
[April 9 update: According to a source, Captain Fishbones is now closed, with a Facebook post confirming this; the post also mentions that owners Donato Frattaroli Sr. and Donato Frattaroli Jr.plan to open their "updated waterfront restaurant...just in time for the warmer weather."]
[April 24 update: A source tells us that Victory Point plans to open in the former Captain Fishbones space on Friday, April 27.]

Confirmed: Flank Is Coming to Quincy's Marina Bay
[Ed note: This article was updated on February 8 to reflect confirmation of this article.]
Earlier this year, a local radio person opened a new restaurant in Waltham that celebrated the tradition of beefsteak banquets, and now we are hearing that he may be opening a second location of the eatery along the water in Quincy, though we are still trying to get exact details on the place.
Earlier today, Greg Hill of WAAF was spotted with Jeff Sullivan of Urposse reward network, while a post on the Quincy Is Everything Facebook group page indeed shows the morning host visiting the city, with Sullivan responding to the question "Where and when is he opening his restaurant?" with "Announcement coming soon." This seems to jibe with rumors we have been hearing from a source that Hill may be opening a second location of Flank at Marina Bay, possibly going into the new luxury apartment complex being built where The Ocean Club had been, and before that, WaterWorks and The Tent. More details should be coming, so keep checking back for updates.
In addition to Flank, Greg Hill is also behind No. 29 Sudbury, an upscale Italian restaurant in Sudbury Town Square, and the upcoming Battle Road Brewery and Pub in Maynard. [Ed note: Now open.]
The website for the original Flank in Waltham can be found at http://www.flankwaltham.com/
[February 8, 2017 update: Kerry Byrne has confirmed on the Quincy Is Everything Facebook page that Flank is indeed coming to the new complex at Marina Bay, with the lease possibly being finalized as early as April and the restaurant possibly opening in September.]

Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy May Be Replaced by Luxury Homes
Last fall, we reported that a sprawling entertainment complex on the water just south of Boston had closed for the season early and that its exact status was unknown. Now we have more confirmation that it might never reopen--and could be replaced by a development that includes luxury housing.
The Boston Globe is reporting that the Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy may become the site of a new housing development called the Boardwalk Residences at Marina Bay, which would include what appears to be high-end apartments, commercial space, and possibly a restaurant. The article mentions that the lease for the Ocean Club has not been renewed, and that its website has not listed any events for this season.
The Ocean Club at Marina Bay has been the site of several clubs over the years, including the Marina Bay Beach Club, WaterWorks, and The Tent. Quincy city council member Brian F. McNamee calls the place "one of the largest open-air nightclubs on the East Coast" in the Globe article.
Construction on the new project may begin sometime later this summer or in the early fall.
[June 19 update: A Facebook post from restaurateur Frank DePasquale (who was involved in the Ocean Club) confirms that the place is definitely closed; he also ends the post with a curious note, saying that "You will see another."]
The address for the site is 333 Victory Road, Quincy, MA, 02171.

Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy Closes for the Season Due to Molly Issues; Future in Doubt
A huge entertainment complex on the waterfront in Quincy has agreed to close for the season due to concerns about the drug "Molly," and there is a chance that it may never reopen, depending on possible redevelopment plans at the site.
According to an article from Channel 7 News/WHDH, the folks who manage the Ocean Club at Marina Bay are shutting the club down for the rest of the season--and will also cancel any future events--with their actions apparently stemming from approximately a dozen overdoses and a dozen arrests centering around the drug. Another article from The Patriot Ledger says that a proposal from Flagship Marinas (which also owns the Ocean Club as well as the Marina Bay complex) to build luxury apartments and retail stores at the site could wipe out any chance of the club reopening next year, though it doesn't appear that this project is written in stone yet, and WHDH mentions that police will be meeting with the owners of the Ocean Club to talk about whether the place has any kind of future in the city.
The address for the Ocean Club at Marina Bay is 333 Victory Road, Quincy, MA, 02171.

Port 305 Opening at Marina Bay in Quincy
A new waterfront restaurant is coming to Quincy, opening in the space where another dining spot closed late last year. According to both Yelp and an earlier article in the Patriot Ledger/Wicked Local, Port 305 is going to open at the site of the former Skyline restaurant on the boardwalk at Marina Bay. Both sites indicate that the new family-friendly spot, which will also have a function room on the second floor, is looking at opening sometime this spring. The people behind Port 305 also own Siros, an upscale Italian restaurant that is around the corner on the Marina Bay boardwalk.
Skyline, a restaurant that featured seafood and American fare, closed in November of 2009 after being in business under that name for about five years. It had gone through several ownership changes as well as a name change over the years (it was originally called Amelia's).
[June 14 update: According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Port 305 is now open.]

Skyline Restaurant Apparently Closes at Marina Bay in Quincy
A restaurant in Quincy known in part for its outdoor dining and water views looks like it has closed its doors. According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Skyline Restaurant at Marina Bay shut down about a week ago, and a check on the restaurant over the weekend confirmed that it is indeed locked up and dark inside. One of a number of restaurants and bars in this harborside development in the northern section of Quincy, Skyline Restaurant has featured a mix of seafood and traditional American fare for a number of years. The casual dining spot has been an especially popular place in the summer, with its outdoor deck overlooking the water.
At the present time, it is not known what might go into the Skyline spot; as soon as we find out, we will post an update on the site. [December 7 Update: According to an article in the Patriot Ledger, it appears that a new restaurant will open in the Skyline spot possibly by January of 2010, with renovations made to the space.]
