The Groove to Open at Hojoko in Boston's Fenway Neighborhood

by Marc Hurwitz

A Tokyo-style record bar is on its way to the Fenway, opening within an eclectic hotel restaurant and bar that also focuses on music.

According to an article from Boston Magazine, The Groove at Hojoko is planning to debut this Friday (April 19) in Hojoko's heated front porch space that up until now has been used for dining/drinking and private events. The post says that the lounge will take its cue from vinyl bars found in Japan that offer snacks, drinks, and analog music, and it will include bring-your-own vinyl nights, DJs, live music, and more.

Tim and Nancy Cushman, who are behind both The Groove and Hojoko, also run the award-winning o ya in Boston's Leather District, and they are opening a new spot in Chestnut Hill along with two stalls at the upcoming Time Out Market in the Fenway.

The address for The Groove at Hojoko is 1271 Boylston Street, Boston, MA, 02215. The website for Hojoko can be found at http://www.hojokoboston.com/

Tradesman Coffee Shop & Lounge Opens within the Hilton Hotel in Boston's Financial District

by Marc Hurwitz

A brand new spot for coffee, food, and (eventually) alcohol has opened up within a hotel in the heart of downtown Boston.

Eater Boston is reporting that Tradesman Coffee Shop & Lounge is now open within the Hilton Boston Downtown-Faneuil Hall hotel on Broad Street, confirming what several sources have been telling us over the past few weeks. The article says that the new spot offers coffee, sandwiches, and baked goods such as croissants, muffins, and scones--and beer, wine, and cocktails will be sold as well at some point in time, though it is not known when this might happen.

Tradesman, which is located on the ground floor of the hotel, has a variety of seating options including booths, lounge chairs, and high-top tables, according to Eater.

The address for Tradesman Coffee Shop & Lounge (and the Hilton) is 89 Broad Street, Boston, MA, 02110. The Instagram page for Tradesman can be found at https://www.instagram.com/tradesmanboston/

New Hotel Lounge Coming to AC Hotel Boston Downtown in the Ink Block Area

by Marc Hurwitz

It looks like a brand new hotel lounge is close to opening in a red-hot section of Boston just south of the downtown area.

According to various social media posts from bar manager Dennis Saint Aubin, a new dining and drinking spot is getting ready to open within the soon-to-open AC Hotel Boston Downtown in the city's Ink Block development. A message from Saint Aubin indicates that the space will be a "sleek, modern hotel lounge" that offers both food and drink, with some of the food options including clam chowder, New England crab cakes, artisanal burgers, Atlantic salmon, a bistro steak, herb-roasted chicken, and limoncello flutes, while craft beer, wine, and cocktails will be available, with a few drinks listed on the opening menu including gin and tonic, a smoked Manhattan, and a "Twisted Paloma" (Patron Blanco tequila, mezcal, agave nectar, lime juice, grapefruit soda). If all goes as planned, the new lounge could debut around March 1 when the hotel is scheduled to open.

Dennis Saint Aubin and Matthew Moore, who is the general manager of the new lounge, both worked at XV Beacon while Saint Aubin has been at such places as the now-closed Federalist and Abe and Louie's and Moore has worked at the Four Seasons.

The AC Hotel Boston Downtown (and the lounge) will be located at 225 Albany Street, which is between Traveler Street and Herald Street in the Ink Block area. Its web page is at http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/boscd-ac-hotel-boston-downtown/
