Emma's Macarons in Waltham Has Closed

A shop west of Boston that featured a popular French confection has shut down.

According to a source, Emma's Macarons in Waltham is no longer in business, with an Instagram post from the Moody Street store indicating that it closed its doors yesterday, saying "I'm so sorry to those who did not get the chance to see us one last time. This was completely unexpected....Emma's Macarons will be taking a break from baking and any future updates will be posted on Instagram & Facebook." Emma's first opened in the spring of 2022 in the former Alba Mediterranean Market and Bakery space, offering small-batch macarons along with other pastries and baked goods.

The address for the now-closed Emma's Macarons was 248 Moody Street, Waltham, MA, 02453.

Le Macaron Opens at Assembly Row in Somerville

A Florida-based chain of French patisseries that currently has one New England location has opened its first Boston-area outlet, and it appears that a second location could be coming to the local area as well.

According to a Facebook post from the business, Le Macaron is now open at Assembly Row in Somerville, with its grand opening apparently having taken place over the weekend. The new shop joins another outlet in Windham, NH, and the website for the company mentions that another store may be coming to Cambridge, though no address has been given for that one.

Le Macaron opened their first shop approximately 13 years ago, with the Assembly Row location first being announced in the early part of 2021.

Emma's Macarons Opens in Waltham

A new shop that features a popular French treat has opened west of Boston.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page and a tweet from @y2000k, Emma's Macarons is now open in Waltham, taking over the former Alba Mediterranean Market and Bakery space on Moody Street. The shop features a variety of macarons with options including strawberry, lemon, passionfruit, chocolate, matcha, raspberry, coconut, cookies and cream, fruity cereal, and more.

Farmhouse Baking Co. Is Opening Farmhouse Cafe in South Weymouth

A small-batch baker whose products can be purchased online and via local vendors and shops will be opening its very own place on the South Shore.

According to a source, Farmhouse Baking Co. is planning to open Farmhouse Cafe in South Weymouth, with the spot apparently opening on Columbian Street next to the Cameo Theater in Columbian Square, based on a thread on its Facebook page. Pictures shown within the thread indicate that the new shop will offer such items as macarons, cookies, and whoopies pies, while the thread mentions that it plans to open sometime this fall.

The Facebook page for the business says that Farmhouse Baking Co. currently sells its products at such places as Fruit Center Marketplace in Hingham and Milton, Olympic Pizza and Bailey's Package Store in South Weymouth, and Lucky Finn Cafe in Hanover and Scituate.

Miam Miam Macaronerie Is Opening in Quincy Center

A local business known for its macarons is opening a retail shop in one of the hottest parts of the Greater Boston area.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Miam Miam Macaronerie is planning to open in Quincy Center, with a note within the Quincy, Ma Happenings and Events Facebook group page (from City of Quincy consultant and publicist Kerry J. Byrne) saying that the store will be opening in front of the Quincy Center T station. The business currently sells macarons online and has also been set up previously in a couple of different storefronts--within The Juice Box on West Broadway in South Boston and inside the Sure Pinoy market on Water Street in Quincy--but this will be their first retail store that they will be able to call their own.

[February 21 update: A press release indicates that Miam Miam Macaronerie hopes to open in Quincy in March or April, and it will be moving into a space within the Munroe Place building at 1205 Hancock Street.]

Finesse Pastries Is Opening in Somerville

It looks like an award-winning bakery and pastry shop that is known in part for its macarons is on its way to Somerville.

According to a source, Finesse Pastries is opening on Somerville Avenue, with the website and Facebook page for the business confirming this. Finesse got its start in Manchester, NH, in 2012, moving to Boston Public Market in 2016 where it currently resides; when it was located in Manchester, the shop received a number of awards from various local publications, according to its website.

In addition to macarons, Finesse Pastries also offers cakes, cream puffs, and tarts.

Maca Macaronerie to Open at Bow Market in Somerville's Union Square

A food vendor featuring a popular French confection is on the way to an upcoming development in Somerville.

Eater Boston is reporting (via Scout Somerville) that Maca macaronerie will be coming to Bow Market in Union Square, with owner Tamy Chung planning to offer a variety of flavors, colors, and characters (including animal shapes) at the stall. It appears that the macarons will continue to be made out of Creative Chef Kitchens in Derry, NH--at least for now--and Chung will also continue to take custom orders for such events as birthday parties, baby showers, and weddings.

Bow Market, which will be located between Somerville Avenue and Bow Street, plans to have more than 30 stalls as well as a brewery and a comedy club.

Miam Miam Macaronerie Is Opening in South Boston

It looks like South Boston will be home to a macaron shop.

Eater Boston reports that Jennifer Lauren Turner, who owned the now-closed Blue Tierra Chocolate Cafe on West Broadway, is partnering with Nicole C. Raukohl to open Miam Miam Macaronerie at a location in Southie that has yet to be disclosed. The article says that while the shop is not yet open--and it is not known exactly when it will open--orders are being taken for those who wish to buy boxes of a dozen or more macarons for delivery in the Boston area (delivery of macarons will be expanding at some point, according to the website).

[November 12, 2015 update: According to a press release sent today, Miam Miam Macaronerie debuts its retail shop on Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 AM at 359 West Broadway, and they will be sharing the space with The Juice Box.]

Some of the flavors from Miam Miam Macaronerie include cherry, praline, apricot, lemon poppy, rose, bittersweet chocolate, and raspberry.

Cameo Macaron to Launch a Food Truck in the Boston Area

A new food truck is on its way to the Boston area, and this one will be focusing on a particular type of French confection.

Eater Boston is reporting that Cameo Macaron is getting ready to debut a food truck, with the article mentioning (via an Instagram post from Cameo) that it is "nearing the finish line." The business may be known to some already, as it has been offering its treats at special events, with its products including a variety of flavors such as rose petal and salted caramel crunch.

A recent Facebook post shows a couple of pictures of the Cameo Macaron food truck (including the one shown on Instagram).

[February 11 update: A new article from Eater Boston states that the Cameo Macaron truck has not officially launched as of yet, but it will pop up at the Boston Center for Adult Education on Arlington Street tomorrow (Wednesday, February 12) from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM.]

Macaron Sweeterie in Lexington Has Closed

A Lexington shop that featured French-style macarons has closed its doors.

According to its website, Macaron Sweeterie on Massachusetts Avenue has shuttered after being in business for approximately two years, with a note on its website saying that "It has been a great journey, and we cannot possibly express enough how much we have enjoyed getting to know everyone. However, our decision for closing is due to us moving onto our next adventure!" A footnote at the bottom of the page says "If you're interested to see what we are up to next, stay tuned for the link on our Macaron Sweeterie website." It is not yet known what these plans may be, so keep checking back for updates.

In addition to selling macaron pastries, Macaron Sweeterie also featured artisan chocolates and espresso.
