Ice Cream Truck Battle to Be Held Today (April 5, 2013) in Cambridge's Harvard Square

A couple of ice cream trucks are returning to the Harvard Square section of Cambridge later today to duke it out in a battle of treats--and to raise money for a good cause in the process.

According to a Twitter post from @BostonTweet, the Ben & Jerry's and b.good ice cream trucks will be handing out ice cream and shakes, respectively, on Dunster Street from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the b.good Facebook page saying that all proceeds will go to the b.good Family Foundation, which helps people bring about positive change in their communities. The truck that raises the most money (via suggested donations) will win the title of the "greatest ice cream truck in Cambridge," according to the Facebook post.

The battle takes place outside b.good's Harvard Square shop, which is at 24 Dunster Street.

Barcade (Combination Beer Bar/Arcade) Is Eyeing the Boston Area

A New York-based group of spots featuring beer and video games could be coming to the Boston area at some point.

Boston Magazine is reporting that Paul Kermizian, who is the founder and co-operator of Barcade, is considering the possibility of opening a location somewhere in Boston or possibly Cambridge or Somerville. In the article, Kermizian states that "Boston is definitely a place that's on the top of our list—not the very top—but in the next few cities we [open bars in], we would like to think of moving there" and that "We have a couple of other places in mind first, but Boston would probably be one of the next two or three after [the opening of a new location in Manhattan]."

Barcade, which first started out in Brooklyn in about nine years ago, features craft beers as well as classic arcade games. In addition to its Brooklyn location, outlets of the place can also be found in Jersey City and Philadelphia. (The Manhattan location will be on the "West Side" of the borough and should be opening sometime this year.)

Pinkberry Opens in Chestnut Hill

A chain of California-based frozen yogurt shops that has been expanding through the Boston area is opening a brand new location, with this one being a few miles west of the city.

According to CBH Communications, Pinkberry opens its doors this evening at The Street Chestnut Hill (formerly the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center), with free yogurt offered from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. (Its official opening will be tomorrow.) The new Pinkberry joins a number of other locations in the Boston area, including two in the Back Bay, one at South Station, and another in Cambridge's Harvard Square.

Pinkberry features a variety of different frozen yogurts as well as fruit parfaits and smoothies.

Sibling Rivalry in Boston's South End Has Closed

A New American restaurant in the South End of Boston has closed its doors after being in business for nearly 10 years.

According to one of our readers (and confirmed by Adam from the Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog), Sibling Rivalry on Tremont Street is no longer in business, with a sign out front saying the place "officially" closed as of Tuesday, April 2. This comes on the heels of speculation from a number of sources that the dining spot had indeed shuttered (including a poster on the Chowhound site a few days ago).

Sibling Rivalry featured a mix of modern American items on its menu, including a sunchoke salad, braised short ribs, roasted cod, pressed duck, and braised chicken.

Burritos Express in Downtown Boston Seized by the City

A Mexican restaurant in downtown Boston has been seized by the city, though it is not yet known whether its other locations have also been shut down.

According to food writer MC Slim JB, Burritos Express on Bedford Street is shuttered, with a sign out front saying that it has been ordered closed by the Boston trial court. It is too early to tell if the eatery will reopen, and the status of its locations in Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, and Hyde Park is unknown at this time; as soon as we find out more information, we will post an update here. (Ed note: It appears that the Dorchester and Hyde Park locations are called Burritos Pizzeria; no information can be found on the Jamaica Plain location other than an address on the restaurant's website.)

[June 25 update: It appears that Burritos Express is closed for good.]

Burritos Express's menu includes chicken, chorizo, steak, and vegetarian burritos as well as breakfast dishes, Mexican sandwiches, tacos, and quesadillas. The Boston location first opened approximately 13 years ago.

Pizzeria Regina Opens in Boston's Fenway Neighborhood

A popular local pizza chain has just opened a new location in Boston, and this one will probably be a big hit with baseball lovers.

A post on their Facebook page indicates that Pizzeria Regina is now open for business on Boylston Street in the city's Fenway neighborhood, moving into the space where a location of Upper Crust Pizzeria had been. The new eatery, which is located just south of Fenway Park (home of the Boston Red Sox), joins more than 20 Regina's locations in New England, with the original being in the North End and a few other outlets being in Faneuil Hall, South Station, the Prudential Center, and Allston.

Regina's first started out in the North End in 1926.
