Bangkok Bistro Is Moving from Cleveland Circle to Washington Street in Brighton

It looks like a Thai restaurant that had been in the Cleveland Circle section of Brighton is moving to the western edge of Brighton Center, taking over the space where a pizza spot had been.

According to a Facebook post from the Brighton Allston Improvement Association back in April, Bangkok Bistro is looking to reopen at 433 Washington Street, moving into the former Naked Pizza space (another location of Naked Pizza remains open in Brookline). The Thai restaurant had been located on Beacon Street in Cleveland Circle, but closed earlier this year.

As soon as we receive confirmation on if and when Bangkok Bistro will reopen in its new space, we will post an update here. (Thanks to a poster on Twitter for bringing this to our attention.)

Ice Cream Smuggler in Dennis Included Among TripAdvisor's Top 10 Ice Cream Shops in America

A popular travel website that features user reviews of hotels and restaurants in the United States and beyond has included a Cape Cod spot among its top 10 ice cream shops in America.

CBS Boston is reporting that TripAdvisor mentions the Ice Cream Smuggler in Dennis in its list of best ice cream shops, which is based on user reviews. The 30-year-old shop, which is located on Route 6A in the center of town, joins such places as Holy Cow in Brooklyn, NY, Leo's Ice Cream in Carlisle, PA, and OwowCow Creamery in Ottsville, PA. Others on the list include Dietsch Brothers Inc. in Findlay, OH, Pink Pelican Ice Cream Bar in Panama City Beach, FL, Sweet Cow in Louisville, CO, Broom's Bloom Dairy in Bel Air, MD, Handel's Homemade Ice Cream in Bonita Springs, FL, and Cowlicks Hand Made Ice Cream in Fort Bragg, CA.

Max and Dylans in Downtown Boston to Become Papagayo

Earlier this year we reported that a local restaurant group was changing one of its spots over from an American dining spot to a Mexican eatery, and now it looks like they may repeat this with another location.

The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog is reporting that Legendary Restaurant Group is going before the Boston Licensing Board on July 10 to request that Max and Dylans on West Street in downtown Boston be changed to Papagayo. A couple of months ago, the location of Max and Dylans in the City Square part of Charlestown became Papagayo as well, so if the board approves of the group's request, only one Max and Dylans will remain (in Bedford). The original Papagayo is located on Summer Street in Boston's Fort Point neighborhood, with another outlet planned for Assembly Row in Somerville next year.

[July 11 update: It looks like Legendary Restaurant Group has received approval to switch the Max and Dylans in downtown Boston over to Papgayo, as a new job post on the Craigslist site mentions that Papagayo is indeed coming to West Street, and that they are looking for workers.]

[July 23 update: Eater Boston states (via Zagat) that Max and Dylans in downtown Boston is now closed, with Papagayo possibly opening there in the next week or so.]

[July 31 update: A post on their Facebook page indicates that the new Papagayo in downtown Boston opens at 5:00 PM today.]

Remick's in Quincy Has Closed

An upscale comfort food spot in Quincy Center has closed after being in business for a bit more than two years, and it is not known whether it will reopen at this point.

According to several sources (including a business within the same block), Remick's on Hancock Street is shuttered, and a check on its website shows that it is no longer working and phone calls placed are not going through. One of our sources said that there had been talk of a possible reopening of Remick's, but for now, the dining spot is no longer in operation.

Remick's first opened in the spring of 2011, with Marc Orfaly of the now-closed Pigalle in Boston being one of three people behind the opening of the restaurant. (Orfaly is planning to open a new spot in the space where Pigalle had been.) The eatery featured a mix of American and international fare.

Boschetto's Bakery in Boston's North End Is Closing

A North End bakery is closing after being in business for more than a century, and it appears that the closure is due to rising rents.

The NorthEndWaterfront.com site reports that Boschetto's Bakery on Salem Street is shutting down on Saturday, July 6 after 110 years of operation, with a sign out front saying that "Due to an excessive raise in rent, there is no way we can continue to produce our goods in a costly manner." The note says that Boschetto's will continue to supply goods to their commercial customers, thanks to the help of Parziale’s Bakery, which is located on nearby Prince Street.

[July 3 update: The Boston Globe mentions that Boschetto's co-owner Mhamed "Ahmed" Idroui says the lease offered by the property owners was "close to quadruple" what they had been paying.]

Boschetto's Bakery first started out in the late 19th century, eventually being bought by the current owner (Bartolomeo De Stefano) in the late 1950s, according to NorthEndWaterfront.com. The bakery has been known in part for its Italian cookies, fresh bread, and Sicilian-style pizza.
