An ice cream truck based in New York City is going set up a pop-up ice cream shoppe on Cape Cod this month, and it will actually be located at the site of a pop-up restaurant.
An email sent to us indicates that The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck is going to be having a pop-up ice cream event at Adrian's Restaurant in North Truro on Friday, August 19 from 1:00 PM until the ice cream runs out. Adrian's website mentions that the shoppe will be offering several toppings for their soft-serve ice cream, including wasabi pea dust, Nilla Wafers, Dulce de Leche, and olive oil and sea salt. Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston to Close; May Reopen in New Spot
A landmark Boston restaurant that has been in business for nearly 50 years--and at one point was the most profitable restaurant in the entire country--is going to be closing its doors and replaced by a waterfront park, though the dining spot may reopen in a nearby spot.
According to The Boston Globe, plans are in the works to develop Pier 4 in the Seaport District of the city after several years of delays, with a massive residential and commercial complex that includes apartments, a hotel, shops, restaurants, and new parkland. Part of the new open space will include a one-acre waterfront park that will be built where Anthony's Pier 4 currently resides. The article states that the seafood restaurant will not close right away, as the creation of the park will be done at a later stage of the project, and it is possible that Anthony's may reopen next door to its current home, in a part of the complex where a hotel with retail and restaurant space will be built.
The restaurant's website mentions that Anthony's Pier 4 first opened in 1963, soon becoming one of the most well-known restaurants not only in Boston, but in the entire country. Over the years, the dining spot has been visited by everyone from U.S. presidents to famous athletes to religious leaders. In addition to their flagship restaurant on the Boston waterfront, there is also an Anthony's Pier 4 Cafe in Swampscott and an Anthony's Cummaquid Inn in Yarmouth Port on Cape Cod.
Construction on the new development at Pier 4 is expected to begin in the spring of 2012, so it appears that Anthony's Pier 4 will not be closing for awhile.

Instead, a housing and retail complex that includes 383 residential units will be built at the site. It was not mentioned whether any of the space will be reserved for parkland, and there is still no official word about the possibility of Anthony's Pier 4 moving to a new spot. Redbones Is Opening The BBQ Rib Shack in Cambridge's Kendall Square
A popular BBQ joint in Somerville that recently put a food truck on the road is about to expand a bit more, opening a new restaurant in Cambridge's Kendall Square.
According to The Feast, Redbones on Chester Street in Davis Square is opening a quick-service spot called The BBQ Rib Shack on Athenaeum Street (between Binney Street and Main Street), and it could be open as early as tomorrow. [AUGUST 23 UPDATE: According to the Redbones Twitter page, the opening of The BBQ Rib Shack was delayed, but a new post states that it opens today at 11:00 AM.] The article mentions that The BBQ Rib Shack will be a lunch-only place (and weekdays only), with a little bit of outdoor seating and a more limited version of the Redbones menu, including pulled pork, BBQ beef sandwiches, St. Louis-style ribs, and macaroni and cheese. The new spot will not be serving alcohol, and it sounds like more of a takeout place than Redbones.
Redbones recently set up a food truck that can be found in various parts of Boston, including in front of the Boston Public Library and on Stuart Street at the corner of Trinity Place. Tacos El Charro in Jamaica Plain Is Reopening
A Mexican restaurant in Jamaica Plain that had been in business since the 1980s--and which closed several months ago--is apparently going to be opening once again.
According to Universal Hub, Tacos El Charro on Centre Street is looking to reopen pending an inspection certificate from the city of Boston. The article mentions that the owner of the Mexican eatery had to close the place down earlier this year because of financial issues, which culminated in the restaurant's power being shut off. The owner appears to be in a better situation financially now, allowing her to purchase food and supplies and have a payment plan set up for electricity.
Tacos El Charro first opened about 30 years ago, featuring such items as guacamole, flautas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, seafood dishes, and sangria.

GaGa Seafood Restaurant Opens in Boston's Chinatown Neighborhood
It looks like a Chinese restaurant that focuses on seafood has just opened in the Chinatown section of Boston.
According to a poster on the Chowhound site, GaGa Seafood Restaurant is now open on Tyler Street, taking over the space where another Chinese seafood restaurant called Pearl Villa had been for more than a decade. It is not yet known whether GaGa Seafood Restaurant will have a similar menu to the now-closed Pearl Villa; as soon as we check out their menu, we will post an update here as to what kinds of dishes they are serving.

Samira's Homemade Is Opening in Belmont
A new takeout spot featuring Egyptian and Lebanese cuisine is on its way to Belmont, and its name may be familiar to some.
According to their website, Samira's Homemade is planning to open on Belmont Street, apparently doubling as both a retail (takeout) and wholesale spot. The husband and wife who are behind the place have been selling their products (including hummus, stuffed grape leaves, baba gannoush, and tabouli) at farmers' markets in the Boston area, as well as at a number of food purveyors (Russo's in Watertown, Pemberton Farms in Cambridge, City Feed & Supply in Jamaica Plain, South End Formaggio in Boston, etc.).
According to an article in Edible Boston, Samira Hamdoun basically started the business while she was working at Formaggio Kitchen in 2007, as she began to sell her homemade hummus and tabouli at the shop. Soon, Samira and her husband Ragab were wholesaling these and other products throughout the Boston area.
