Update: Everett, Winthrop, and Abington Now Have Stricter Rules in Place for Restaurant Workers and Customers

Three more communities in the Greater Boston area have set up stricter rules when it comes to dining.

According to an article in the Everett Independent, customers who wish to pick up takeout orders at restaurants in Everett are now required to wear a mask or another type of protective face covering as do the restaurant workers, while the town of Winthrop has instituted a similar ruling as has Abington. (In addition, plexiglass shields will need to be set up in Everett dining spots so that people behind the counter and customers are separated.) Everett, Winthrop, and Abington join a growing number of cities and towns in the region that are instituting rules that go beyond the basic face mask recommendations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with Braintree, Lynn, Medford, Swampscott, Beverly, Revere, Quincy, Brookline, and Salem all having similar mandates, though Lynn (and the Revere Beach part of Revere) is also not allowing customers to go inside dining spots.

Currently, Massachusetts restaurants and bars are only allowed to offer takeout and/or delivery due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with the tentative end date of the restrictions being May 4, though this date could certainly be pushed back.

BearMoose Brewing Company, Deep Cuts Deli Have Parted Ways

It looks like a deli that was located inside a brand new brewery has said farewell just a few days after the official opening of the facility.

According to a tweet from @TBootsBrewing, Deep Cuts Deli has left the BearMoose Brewing Company space in Everett, with a Facebook post from the brewery from over the weekend confirming this, saying that "Unfortunately, Deep Cuts Deli will no longer be located inside BearMoose Brewing Company. We are working on providing you with other food options to enjoy with [your] BearMoose brew. In the meantime, feel free to bring your own food, or order in!" In addition, a Facebook post from Deep Cuts Deli this past weekend said, "We're cookin' up our next new adventure and we can't wait to tell you what it is. Thanks to BearMoose Brewing Company for letting us be part of your launch." It is not yet known what may have resulted in the two businesses parting ways; we have reached out to both and will post any updates that come in.

BearMoose Brewing Company officially opened on July 4, with the initial plan being for Deep Cuts Deli to offer snacks, sandwiches, and coffee to customers coming in to try beers in the taproom.

BearMoose Brewing Company can be found at 1934 Revere Beach Parkway in Everett.

La Perle Caribbean Restaurant in Everett Is Closing; Cites Casino Construction As Reason

by Marc Hurwitz

A dining spot in Everett is shutting down this month, and the owner says that work on the nearby casino is the reason for its closure.

According to an article in the Everett Independent, La Perle Caribbean Restaurant on Bow Street (by Broadway) is closing its doors on March 16, with owner Valery Joseph saying that construction and other issues related to the upcoming Encore Boston Harbor resort across the street is the reason. Joseph says that "I would have loved to stay," but "The customers try to come, but they can't get here. It's not easy for a group of people trying to come here and they're circling and circling to find a spot. They just give up. It's discouraging and they leave. We've been struggling the last year with this. If it weren't for take-out and catering, we would have already closed." In addition to parking issues, there have also been problems with traffic, dust, and street closures and rerouting of roadways, all of which led to Joseph's decision to shut down. She does say that the plan is to reopen La Perle in another space, though it is not known exactly where at this point in time.

La Perle first opened in 2011, offering Caribbean food including Haitian fare and French-influenced dishes.

The address for La Perle Caribbean Restaurant is 41 Bow Street, Everett, MA, 02149. Its website can be found at https://www.laperlerestaurantboston.com
