Nautilus Pier 4 Opens in the Seaport District of Boston

A popular Nantucket restaurant has expanded to the Boston waterfront.

According to a press release, Nautilus Pier 4 opens today in the city's Seaport District, with the dining spot initially being open for dinner only in their indoor area and offering seating on a first-come basis until April 6. (Lunch service and outdoor dining will begin later this spring.) As hinted at earlier here, the new location of The Nautilus will offer tapas-style dishes with Asian and Latin influences, while local beers will be available along with hard cider and a variety of wine, sake, and cocktail options, and the space will include a chef's table, dining area, bar, and private dining section.

The address for Nautilus Pier 4 is 300 Pier Four Boulevard, Boston, MA, 02210. The website for both locations can be found at https://www.thenautilus.com/

Nautilus Pier 4 Plans to Open in Boston's Seaport District

It looks like a trendy hotspot on Nantucket is going to be expanding to Boston.

The Tables section of The Boston Globe states that Nautilus Pier 4 is planning to open in the city's Seaport District, with the restaurant joining the original location of The Nautilus on the island. (The owners of The Nautilus also run a music club on Nantucket called Gaslight.) Based on the offerings at its existing location, Nautilus Pier 4 will likely feature small plates with Asian and Latin influences along with cocktails.

If all goes as planned, Nautilus Pier 4 will open sometime in 2020.

The address for Nautilus Pier 4 will be 300 Pier Four Boulevard, Boston, MA, 02210; the website for the Nantucket location of The Nautilus can be found at https://nautilusnantucket.com/

[November 27 update: A message from Richard Auffrey of The Passionate Foodie indicates that Nautilus Pier 4 plans to open in April of 2021.]

Lola 42 to Open at Boston's Fan Pier

A few years ago, we reported that the person behind three restaurants on Nantucket was planning to bring a second location of one of them to Boston's Back Bay. Now we have learned that a location of the dining spot is still coming to Boston, but it will apparently be in another section of the city.

According to a Twitter post from @DGoodison of The Boston Herald, Lola 42 is looking to open at Twenty Two Liberty, a luxury residential building at Fan Pier on the Boston waterfront. A notice from Fort Point Boston confirms this, saying that the upcoming eatery will be introduced to The Fort Point Neighborhood Association (FPNA) on June 28. It is not yet known when it might open or how similar it will be to the original Lola 41, an upscale restaurant on Nantucket owned by Marco Coelho which has a sister dining spot called Lola Burger. (Another eatery called Pazzo that was affiliated with the other two spots is no longer in operation.)

Earlier, we had mentioned that Lola 41 was planning to open on Gloucester Street in the Back Bay, but that may have ended up falling through. (We have reached out to Lola to confirm and are waiting to hear back from them.)

The website for Lola 41 on Nantucket can be found at http://lola41.com/

[May 15, 2017 update: Eater Boston states that Lola 42 opens its doors tomorrow (Tuesday, May 16).]

Lola 41 Is Coming to Boston's Back Bay

The person behind a trio of restaurants on Nantucket is looking to bring a second location of one of them to Boston.

According to one of our readers, Marco Coelho of Pazzo, Lola Burger, and Lola 41 is planning to open a location of the latter in the city's Back Bay neighborhood. The reader mentions that Lola 41 is apparently coming to 50 Gloucester Street, which a page from Bizapedia seems to prove, and an article in Yesterday's Island, Today's Nantucket confirms that the restaurant is indeed coming to the Back Bay.

The address given in Bizapedia is also the same one that a proposed spot called Ambrosia on Gloucester was possibly coming to, but it is not yet known whether that project fell through or if it might open in another location (keep checking back for updates).

Lola 41 is an upscale eatery that features such items as sushi, slow-roasted pork belly, macaroni and cheese, pan-seared halibut, gnocchi, hanger steak, and the Lola burger, along with a variety of cocktails. Its website can be found at http://www.lola41.com/

Met on Main, Sea Dog Pub to Open on Nantucket

Two very different restaurants that have branches in the Boston area are each planning an island location.

The Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror reports that Met on Main and the Sea Dog Pub are looking to open on Nantucket, with each recently receiving licenses by the Board of Selectmen this week. Met on Main will be opened by the group behind several upscale restaurants in and around Boston, including the Met Back Bay, the Metropolitan Club in Chestnut Hill and the Met Bar in Dedham and Natick, while the Sea Dog Pub will be opened by the Maine-based microbrewery of the same name that also has brewpubs in Woburn and Hull. The article mentions that both restaurants could be open before the summer season behind.

[June 18 update: The Sea Dog Pub is now open on Nantucket, while the Chowder blog from Boston Magazine reports that Met on Main will be opening next week.]

Met on Main will be taking over the Main Street space where the Even Keel Cafe used to be; the Sea Dog brew pub will move into the South Water Street spot where Cy's had been.
