Finagle a Bagel in Boston's Center Plaza Is Closing
It looks like another location of a local group of bagel shops is shutting down.
According to a licensing board page within the City of Boston website, Finagle a Bagel at Center Plaza in downtown Boston is planning to close in December, with the post saying that they have canceled their common victualler license. It appears that existing locations within MGH, in Boston's Back Bay, and the kiosk within the Kinko's building in Chestnut Hill remain open, though their website shows that their other Chestnut Hill shop is temporarily closed. Finagle a Bagel's products can also be found at various grocery stores in the region, including Roche Bros., Whole Foods, Shaw's, Market Basket, and others.
A number of Finagle a Bagel cafes have shuttered over the years, with locations in Boston's Financial District, Tremont Street by Boston Common, Brookline's Coolidge Corner, Burlington, Cambridge's Harvard Square, East Cambridge, Charlestown, Swampscott, Wayland, West Roxbury, and others all being out of business.
The address for this soon-to-close bagel shop in Boston is: Finagle a Bagel, 1 Center Plaza, Boston, MA, 02108. The website for the company can be found at http://www.finagleabagel.com/
[December 10 update: According to a post from the Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog, Finagle a Bagel at Center Plaza closes on Friday, December 18.]

Bagelsaurus Is Opening in Cambridge
The woman behind a "micro-bagel-bakery" that is located within a Brookline sandwich shop is going to be opening a shop of her own in Cambridge.
A License Commission General Hearing page within the City of Cambridge website indicates that Mary Ting Hyatt is planning to open Bagelsaurus on Mass. Ave. in the Porter Square section of the city. Based on the post, it looks like the shop will have seating for just under 20 and would tentatively be open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesday through Sunday.
Hyatt currently sells her bagels within Cutty's on Washington Street in Brookline Village on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM until she runs out of bagels.
[August 5 update: Boston Magazine mentions that Bagelsaurus could be opening on October 1, and that Mary Ting is hoping she will be able to continue to supply bagels to customers at Cutty's in Brookline as well.]
[October 14 update: Bagelsaurus has not yet opened, but The Boston Globe states that it plans to soft-open on Sunday (October 19).]
[October 21 update: According to a picture sent from Rich O's Ravings, Bagelsaurus did not soft-open on Sunday, but does plan to open later this week.]

Bagelville Is Opening in Arlington Heights
It looks like a bagel shop in downtown Boston is going to be opening another store northwest of the city, moving into the space where a location of a chain of bakery-cafes had been.
A recent check on the space indicates that Bagelville is planning to open in the old Panera spot on Mass. Ave. in Arlington Heights, making this the second location of the shop (the original store is in Faneuil Hall). Based on the menu at the Boston location, expect to see such items as bagels, egg dishes, soups, salads, sandwiches, and fresh-made juices.
[October 17 update: If all goes well with the licensing and permitting process, Bagelville could be opening in Arlington Heights in the middle of December or early January.]
[April 1, 2014 update: A poster on the Chowhound site mentions that a banner is now up saying the new Bagelville in Arlington Heights opens on Friday (April 4).]
Panera closed its Arlington Heights store this spring after being in business for approximately 15 years.
The address for this new shop in Arlington Heights is: Bagelville, 1398 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02476. Its website is at http://bagelvilleonline.com/

Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. Is Opening in Framingham
A Florida-based group of bagel shops that features New York-style water bagels is on its way to the area.
According to a job post on the Craigslist site, Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. is going to be opening in Framingham, with more possibly on the way to the MetroWest area. The chain makes their bagels in the classic New York way, by boiling them in water then baking them in a "traditional, revolving shelf oven" that gives them a crunchy golden-brown crust.
[April 29 update: The Framingham Patch is reporting that Brooklyn Water Bagel is now open in Framingham. The article also says that this is the first of more than two dozen shops that will be coming to Massachusetts.]
Currently, there are no Brooklyn Water Bagel locations in New England, with their handful of shops mostly being found in the Southeast.
The address for this new bagel place in Framingham is: Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., 341 Cochituate Road, Suite #5, Framingham, MA, 01701. Their website can be found at http://www.brooklynwaterbagels.com/

Little Mary's Bagels Looking to Open in Arlington
It looks like a breakfast and lunch spot featuring bagels will be soon opening in Arlington.
According to the restaurant's website, Little Mary's Bagels is planning to open on Mass. Ave. across from Arlington High School sometime this fall (their Facebook page states that they are currently looking at a November opening). In addition to freshly baked bagels, Little Mary's will offer organic coffee, breakfast sandwiches, salads, deli-style sandwiches, and pastries. A blog entry within the Arlington Advocate mentions that Little Mary's will have seating for 18 people.
The address for this upcoming breakfast and lunch spot in Arlington will be: Little Mary's Bagels, 882B Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02476. Their website can be found at: http://littlemarysbagels.com/ and their Facebook page is at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arlington-MA/Little-Marys-Bagels/117126641673023
[December 1 update: According to posters on their Facebook page, it appears that construction has stopped on Little Mary's Bagels and that there is no longer a sign out front for the place. (A recent drive by the place has indeed confirmed this.) As soon as we find out if Little Mary's will indeed be opening in this space, we will post another update here.]
[May 31, 2011 update: It appears that Little Mary's Bagels will not be opening--at least not at 882B Massachusetts Avenue, where they had planned to open last fall--as a "For Rent" sign is now in the window of the space.]
