Curds & Co. in Brookline Village Is Closing

A specialty cheese shop is going to be closing its doors.

According to a source, Curds & Co. in Brookline Village is shutting down, with a note on the website for the Washington Street shop saying the following:

The Curds&co team will celebrate 8 years of bringing great cheese and happiness to Brookline with one big month of thanks and celebration before closing our doors on Friday, September 12th. As you may know, we have been actively searching for a new team to own the store since we have moved to Sicily in 2023. It was our hope and dream to keep our fab team of cheese mongers slinging the Swiss and pouring the sauv blanc. Unfortunately, our search a new owner has not been successful....These 8 years have been amazing and you all have been some of the greatest humans I've ever known. You are what will be missed most in our little hamlet of cheesedom.

Curds & Co. first opened in the summer of 2017, being known for its variety of cheese and charcuterie options along with its weekly "cheese school" classes.

Life Love Cheese Is Opening a Brick-and-Mortar Shop in Wakefield

A food service business and caterer that is known in part for its cheeses is going to be opening a storefront in the northern suburbs of Boston.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page (via an article from What Now Boston), Life Love Cheese is planning to open a brick-and-mortar location in Wakefield, with the Water Street shop offering weekly sandwich specials and beer, wine, and spirits in addition to cheese and charcuterie. The business, which is headquartered in West Medford and works out of a shared commercial kitchen in Woburn, got its start in 2022 and has pop-ups at farmers markets while also being involved with events in the local area.

Boston Cheese Cellar in Roslindale Is Closing

It looks like an award-winning cheese shop is closing down at the end of the month.

Universal Hub is reporting (via a note from the owner of the place) that Boston Cheese Cellar in Roslindale Square is shutting its doors, with the letter from Adam Shutes saying that "Five successful years later having given all of my energy to Boston Cheese Cellar, I have decided to bring this exhausting yet meaningful adventure to an end, and so, Boston Cheese Cellar will be closing its doors on 29th February." The note mentions that the Birch Street shop has won "local and international awards" during its relatively short time in business, including Main Streets Business of the Year in 2016, Best Cheese Shop in Boston 2017, and Adopt-An-Alp Champion 2018.

Curds & Co. Opening New Location at Boston Public Market

It looks like a specialty cheese shop in Brookline is expanding to downtown Boston.

According to a source (Geoff Wong), Curds & Co. is planning to open at Boston Public Market, with a sign displayed that says "Something cheesy is coming soon." Based on what we have been told, it appears that the new location of Curds & Co. will take over the space where Appleton Farms Cheese in Ipswich had a booth.

Curds & Co. first opened on Washington Street in Brookline Village in the summer of 2017, taking over the space where The UPS Store had been. The website for the business can be found at https://www.curdsandco.com

Curds & Co. to Open in Brookline Village

It looks like a specialty cheese shop will soon be opening in Brookline.

An email sent this morning indicates that Curds & Co. is opening on Washington Street in Brookline Village, moving into the space on Washington Street where The UPS Store had been. The note mentions that owner Jenn Mason will offer a variety of cut-to-order cheeses as well as "accessories and accompaniments," and classes will be offered as well.

This confirms an earlier post from @BostonTweet, which mentioned that Curds & Co. was indeed on its way to Brookline Village.

Allium Market Is Opening in Brookline's Coolidge Corner

A new market, cafe, and cheese shop is on its way to one of the busiest sections of Brookline, and its concept will be influenced by a legendary deli in the Great Lakes region of the United States.

Eater Boston is reporting that Allium Market is planning to open in the old Walgreens space within the historic S.S. Pierce Building in the heart of Coolidge Corner, with the Beacon Street spot getting its inspiration from Zingerman's Delicatessen in Ann Arbor, MI where owner Talia Glass used to work. Once it opens, the market will have such items as produce, sauces, olive oils, vinegars, and pickled vegetables, while the cafe will have lunch and light dinner options including salads, mediterranean-style tapas items, and coffee, and the cheese section will feature an extensive array of domestic and imported cheeses.

If all goes as planned, Allium Market could be opening sometime in the fall.

Fromage Is Opening in South Boston

A combination cheese/wine bar and gourmet deli is on its way to one of the hottest neighborhoods in Boston.

According to job post within the Craigslist site, Fromage is currently hiring for its upcoming spot on Broadway in South Boston. Based on an earlier article from Eater Boston as well as an earlier post from South Boston Today, this place has been in the works for awhile, with the latter first reporting on it back in May of 2013. Little is currently known about the setup of Fromage or the exact menu, but based on the Craigslist post, it looks like the place will offer wine, beer, cheese, gourmet appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches (including panini), and small plates.

[March 31 update: Eater Boston has confirmed what a Twitter poster mentioned earlier, that Fromage is now open.]

Publick House Provisions in Brookline Is Closing

It looks like the retail outlet of a popular restaurant and beer bar in Brookline is going to be closing its doors.

According to Brookline TAB and Wicked Local, the Brookline selectmen's office states that Publick House Provisions on Beacon Street (a few blocks west of Washington Square) will be shutting down. The shop, which first opened in the spring of 2008, is directly connected with The Publick House, which is also located on Beacon Street, just east of the store. The people behind Publick House Provisions and The Publick House also run American Craft, a restaurant and bar that is next to the shop.

Publick House Provisions has been known for its vast selection of craft beers as well as its artisanal cheeses. The store has also hosted various events, including free beer tastings.

Bloomy Rind Opens in Hingham

A specialty cheese shop has opened in Hingham, and the person behind it is a chef with quite a background.

According to Boston.com, Bloomy Rind is now open on Main Street in the center of this South Shore town, bringing to the area a store that features a variety of cheeses and breads, as well as salads, vegetable plates, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and more. The article mentions that the owner of Bloomy Rind graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and has worked at the high-end Back Bay restaurant L'Espalier as well as a number of Todd English restaurants.

The boston.com article also states that cooking classes may be offered at Bloomy Rind at some point in the future.

Bloomy Rind is open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday (it is closed on Sundays).
