Playa Bowls Is Opening in South Boston

A couple of years ago, it was reported that a New Jersey-based chain of dining spots was planning to open in South Boston, and now we have learned that it is just about ready to debut, though in a different space than what was originally thought.

According to a post from Caught In Southie, Playa Bowls is opening on W Broadway on Saturday, March 29, though its address will be 471 W Broadway rather than 359 W Broadway. The new outlet will offer smoothies and bowls, and it will join other locations locally in Brighton by Boston College, near Northeastern University in Boston, Cambridge's Harvard Square, Winchester, East Milton Square, Canton, Westwood, Brockton, and Wellesley.

The website for the Playa Bowls chain can be found at https://www.playabowls.com/

Playa Bowls to Open in South Boston, Replacing The Juice Box

A South Boston spot that featured fresh juices and more has shut down, though a New Jersey-based chain of dining spots will open a new outlet in its space.

According to a post from Caught In Southie, The Juice Box on W Broadway is no longer in business, having shut down on December 31, and Playa Bowls will be opening its seventh Boston-area location there. As a note on the window from the owner of The Juice Box indicates, there won't be a big change in concept once Playa Bowls opens, as the former offered juices, smoothies, and bowls much like the latter does, and it appears that Playa Bowls could open early this year if all goes well.

Other locations of Playa Bowls can be found in Brighton by Boston College, near Northeastern University in Boston, Cambridge's Harvard Square, East Milton Square, Brockton, and Winchester.

The address for the now-closed Juice Box (and upcoming Playa Bowls) is 359 W Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127. The website for the Playa Bowls chain can be found at https://www.playabowls.com/

A few months ago, a trio of shops featuring fresh-pressed juices and more closed its original location but said it was also planning to open a new outlet. Now we have learned where that shop will be.

The Tables section of The Boston Globe states that Nourish Your Soul is going to be opening within the upcoming Lululemon Athletica in the Back Bay, with the 30-seat dining spot offering bowls, salads, smoothies and juices at the Newbury Street location. Once it opens, the new shop will join outlets in Beacon Hill and Winchester, which remain in operation while others in West Medford (the original location), the Healthworks gym in the Back Bay, and The Club by George Foreman III at the Channel Center in South Boston are no longer in operation.

If all goes as planned, the new location of Nourish Your Soul plans to open in November, with Eater Boston saying that the shop will open on November 1 (the Nourish Your Soul website also says November 1).

TBaar Opens in Boston's Chinatown Neighborhood

A New York-based group of shops featuring bubble tea, smoothies, and juices has opened its third Boston-area location--and its first within the city itself.

According to a Twitter post from @ConciergeBoston, TBarr is now open in Chinatown, moving into a space on Kneeland Street that had been home to Beantown Juice and Tea. The new outlet joins locations in Quincy Center and Brookline (near the Boston line), and while another outlet had also been planned for Mass. Ave. in Cambridge, those plans apparently never materialized.

The website for the business says that TBaar was established in 2006, opening its first shop in Brooklyn that year; it now has more than 20 locations mostly along the East Coast, though shops can also be found in California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, and Texas.

The address for the new location of TBaar in Chinatown is 32 Kneeland Street, Boston, MA, 02111. The website for TBaar can be found at https://tbaar.com/
