The article mentions that the new space will be much larger, having room for functions, special events, and catering, and it will continue to offer pizza, as the space will include a wood-burning oven. If all goes as planned, the restaurant could open in its new space in early June. (As mentioned in another article, Salty Days is taking over Boathouse Bistro's Hingham space.)

The C Note in Hull Has Closed

It looks like another local music venue has shut down.

According to members of Mark Skin Radio who sent us messages about it this afternoon, The C Note in Hull's Nantasket Beach area has closed for good, with a Facebook page from one of the people involved with the place confirming this, saying that the Nantasket Avenue spot "has heard its final note thanks to Covid19. It was a struggle to hang on any longer....Thank you all for supporting live music. Keep doing it wherever you go!" (A post from the club itself has now gone up as well, thanking its customers and staff along with musicians who have played at and supported the place over the years.) The music club has been a popular spot for both local and national acts over the years, including all kinds of live music from rock to jazz to blues and more. (The C Note had formerly been called the Sea Note, with an ownership change taking place a bit more than 10 years ago.)

The address for the now-closed C Note was 159 Nantasket Avenue, Hull, MA, 02045.

The Parrot Opens in Hull; Takes Over Former Red Parrot Space

A seaside restaurant and bar on the South Shore that changed ownership several months ago is now partially open as a new spot with a slightly different name.

According to its social media pages, The Parrot has opened in Hull on weekends only for now, taking over the space on Hull Shore Drive across from Nantasket Beach where The Red Parrot had been. As reported earlier, Brian Houlihan (Bia Bistro in Cohasset, Galley Kitchen & Bar in Scituate, The Tinker's Son in Norwell, Trident Galley & Raw Bar in Hingham) is behind the place, which is just open on weekends because its roof deck is still being built. When done, the space is expected to include a dining area with traditional seaside options in the front, a tavern-type space in the back, and a main dining area upstairs that will be more upscale, and the aforementioned roof deck, though if any of the final setup of the space changes, we will post an update here.

The address for The Parrot is 1 Hull Shore Drive, Hull, MA, 02045. Its website will be at http://www.theparrothull.com/

[July 18 update: According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page (and confirmed by the restaurant's Facebook page), the Parrot is now open seven days a week for both lunch and dinner in the downstairs sections only, as the upstairs dining area and the roof deck are still under construction.]

The Red Parrot In Hull Being Sold to Local Restaurateur; Changes on the Way

by Marc Hurwitz

A seaside restaurant and bar on the South Shore is going to be changing hands, and with it, updates to both the space and the food and drink offerings.

According to an article in The Patriot Ledger/Wicked Local, The Red Parrot in Hull is in the process of being sold to Brian Houlihan, who owns Bia Bistro in Cohasset, Galley Kitchen & Bar in Scituate, The Tinker's Son in Norwell, and Trident Galley & Raw Bar in Hingham. The post says that Houlihan plans to have the front bar area focus on traditional seaside options including tacos, burgers, and margaritas, while the back will have the feel of a tavern with local beers and cocktails offered, and the main dining area upstairs will be an upscale restaurant with steak and seafood dishes. The sale of The Red Parrot is expected to go through by the end of the year, at which point renovations would take place in the winter with the place reopening in phases by April and into the summer.

It is not yet known what current owners Bea and Richard D'Angelo will be doing next, with the couple telling The Patriot Ledger in an email that "Here we are 26 years later, it's bitter sweet....We are extremely pleased to turn our establishment over to Brian Houlihan, whose excellent reputation speaks for itself."

The address for The Red Parrot is 1 Hull Shore Drive, Hull, MA, 02045. Its website can be found at https://www.theredparrot.com/

[February 22, 2019 update: Wicked Local states that The Red Parrot space is now under construction, with the hope being to open at least the first and third floors by Memorial Day. (The second floor will have a host stand along with overflow seating for the third-floor restaurant.) The article also indicates that the new place might not be called The Red Parrot, as Brian Houlihan says he is thinking of names for the restaurant.]

Hull's Kitchen to Open HK Too in the Old Barefoot Bob's Space at Nantasket Beach

A couple of months ago, we mentioned that a beachside dining and drinking spot that included an outdoor tiki bar had closed. Now we have learned what will be going into the space.

According to a Facebook post, Hull's Kitchen at Nantasket Beach is opening HK Too in what another post says is in the nearby Barefoot Bob's Beach Grill space, with the outdoor patio opening in mid-June and the interior opening sometime in September. The Facebook page says that the new spot will offer food and drink and will have live music every night, while it appears that it will be a seasonal place that may stay open until November or December. It is not yet known what the menu at HK Too will include; the menu at Hull's Kitchen focuses on seafood, tacos, and sandwiches and also has beer, wine, and mixed drinks.

Barefoot Bob's was once featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and it had also been reviewed by our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants).

The address for the upcoming HK Too is 276 Nantasket Avenue, Hull, MA, 02045.

[June 14 update: A Facebook post from the place indicates that HK Too plans to open on Friday, June 16. (Thanks to a poster on the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page for bringing this to our attention.)]

It looks like a beachside dining and drinking spot that included an outdoor tiki bar has shut its doors.

A check on the place a few days ago indicated that Barefoot Bob's Beach Grill on Nantasket Beach in Hull was locked up and dark, with a call placed to the Nantasket Avenue restaurant and bar indicating that its phone is out of service. Both Google and Yelp say that it has permanently closed, as well as a poster on a Groupon page (Groupon apparently returned the money to the poster), and its Facebook page is down as well. It is not yet known whether Barefoot Bob's could reopen--or what might be happening to the space--so stay tuned for updates.

Barefoot Bob's was featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares in 2012, and it has also been reviewed by our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants), with the review being found at the link below:
