Anthony's East Side Deli Is Opening in Arlington

A deli featuring a variety of Italian foods is on its way to East Arlington.

According to their website and social media pages, Anthony's East Side Deli is getting ready to open on Mass. Ave., with a planned opening set for Tuesday, March 19. Their website states that they will be offering the "freshest Italian meats, cheeses, sandwiches, salads and specialty products" at their shop, with the menu including soups, salads, sandwiches, calzones, and sides. The deli will also offer party platters and trays along with gift baskets.

Hours for Anthony's East Side Deli will be 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM seven days a week.

Upper Crust Pizzeria in Watertown Has Reopened

Another location of a local group of pizzerias that recently went to auction has reopened.

According to one of our readers (and confirmed by the restaurant's Facebook page), the Upper Crust Pizzeria in Watertown is open once again, apparently opening its doors on Tuesday of this week. It looks like UC Acquisition (a private equity firm connected with Upper Crust founder Jordan Tobins) may be behind the reopening of the Watertown location, as the firm had acquired the Upper Crust branches in Boston's South End, Watertown, Lexington, and Wellesley in a December auction, the latter of which reopened last month.

Most Upper Crust locations had closed down in November of 2012, with the auction on the shops taking place soon after. The Harvard Square location of Upper Crust is going to become a new spot called The Just Crust, while the Back Bay location was taken over by The Proper Slice this week.

Aquasino Casino Ship (Which Will Include a Restaurant) to Start Sailing in Lynn

Four years after the Horizon's Edge casino boat last sailed in Lynn, it now looks like the city will see the return of offshore casino gambling, and the ship that is coming will include a restaurant.

The Daily Item is reporting that the Aquasino will soon be sailing off the shores of Lynn, with the 225-foot ship featuring casino gambling, an onboard restaurant, and entertainment such as comedy shows. (The article says that the boat may also have weddings.) The "mini cruise ship," which will have four decks and a capacity of 600, will set sail from the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation pier on Marine Boulevard, according to The Daily Item.

It appears that Aquasino could be sailing as early as May.

Fugu Asian Food Truck Plans to Be Up and Running in Boston April 1

An Asian food truck is getting ready to hit the streets of Boston, with a planned debut at the beginning of next month.

Eater Boston is reporting that Fugu Truck has met its Kickstarter fundraising goal and is now hoping to be up and running on April 1. According to the article, the new truck could be featuring such items as chilled ramen, pork belly buns, and salmon, though it is still working on the menu. It looks like Fugu will be setting up at Northeastern University at lunchtime on Mondays and Tuesdays, Copley Square and Prudential for weekday dinners, and the SoWa open market on Sundays.

Phantom Gourmet to Give Out Free Pies for Pi Day (3/14/13)

As many of you know by now, today is Pi Day, with a number of Boston-area eateries celebrating with special pies being offered. And the Phantom Gourmet will also be celebrating the day, giving out free pies in the heart of downtown Boston a bit later this morning.

According to a post on their Twitter page, the Phantom folks will be at City Hall Plaza at 11:30 this morning, handing out free Table Talk Pies to people who come by, with a limit of one per customer until the pies run out. This is just one of several events from The Phantom Gourmet over the coming weeks and months, with a Phan Night benefit to raise money for The Joey Fund planned for April, a Hot Dog Safari (also a benefit for the Joey Fund) in May, and another BBQ Beach Party in June.

Chacarero Is Opening within the Prudential Center in Boston's Back Bay

Two years after closing one of its two downtown Boston locations, a Chilean sandwich shop is going to try to expand once again, with a new Back Bay location on the way.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Chacarero is soon planning to open within The Shops at Prudential Center, joining its other location on Arch Street. The Chilean eatery first started out as a pushcart in Downtown Crossing nearly 20 years ago, eventually moving nearby to a takeout space in the former Filene's building before opening sandwich shops on Province Street and Arch Street (the Province Street location closed in the winter of 2011).

[May 30 update: A post on the Facebook page for The Shops at Prudential Center indicates that the new Chacarero is now open in the food court there.]

Chacarero  features sandwiches with grilled steak and/or chicken as well as a vegetarian sandwich, empanadas, sweet oven-fried potatoes, rice pudding, and more (including breakfast items). Their website can be found at http://www.chacarero.com/
