Louis Corner Opens in Boston's South End in Early August

Late last summer, it was announced that a local restaurant group would be opening a new dining spot in the South End of Boston, and now we have learned that it is just about ready to debut.

According to a press release, Louis Corner is slated to open its doors on Wednesday, August 6, moving into the space on Tremont Street that had been home to The Butcher Shop. The press release indicates that Louis Corner will be open for lunch and dinner, and it will also have a weekend brunch as well.

The Butcher Shop, which closed in the summer of 2023, was one of a handful of restaurants and bars from Barbara Lynch, though all of her dining/drinking spots are now closed.

The address for Louis Corner (which is pronounced Lou-ee) is 552 Tremont Street, Boston, MA, 02118. Its website will be at https://www.louiscorner.com/

A Southern-style restaurant in Somerville will soon be saying farewell to its home, though it looks like it will be reborn in a new location at some point.

According to a source, Southern Kin Cookhouse at Assembly Row is getting ready to close its doors, with its social media pages mentioning a "friendly/bittersweet reminder that our Assembly Row location will close 7/27. Make the most of it & visit us there until we relocate" while another post says "Come visit us at our Assembly Row location one last time! New spot coming soon!" It is not yet known where the new location will be, so keep checking back for updates as they come in.

Southern Kin Cookhouse first opened in 2016, offering such options as buttermilk biscuits, grilled cornbread, chicken and waffles, gumbo, fried catfish, shrimp and grits, country fried steak, ribs, macaroni and cheese, dirty rice, and pecan pie along with beer, wine, and cocktails.

Third Time Ice Cream to Open a Brick-and Mortar Shop at the Charles River Speedway in Brighton

A few months ago, it was announced that a local ice cream business known for its pop-ups could be opening a permanent space in Somerville, and now we have learned that it will be coming to Brighton instead.

According to a Bluesky post from @troysch1.bsky.social, Third Time Ice Cream is now planning to open at the Charles River Speedway on Western Avenue, apparently moving into the former Super Bien space. Back in April, the business put up an Instagram post saying that they were "headed for a permanent home in East Somerville," but that subsequently fell through.

Third Time Ice Cream Founder Nick Ladin-Sienne, who comes from such restaurants as Oleana, Sofra, and Puritan + Co., brought a temporary location of Third Time Ice Cream to Somerville's Bow Market last fall.

The website for Third Time Ice Cream is at https://www.thirdtimeicecream.co/

89 Charles to Open in Boston's Beacon Hill

A new dining and drinking spot is on its way to Beacon Hill, and it will be taking over the space where a location of an Italian restaurant had been.

The address (89 Charles Street) indicates that it will be moving into the former Artu space (another location of Artu remains open in the North End), and this space had actually been the site of two proposed restaurants over the past couple of years--Nite Lite Cafe and Ono Bistro.

If all goes as planned, 89 Charles could be opening in August or September.

According to a source, Tuscan Kitchen in Burlington is getting ready to shut down, with a Facebook post from Tuscan Brands saying the following:

After nearly 11 unforgettable years, Tuscan Kitchen Burlington will be closing its doors on Sunday, August 3rd. While we say goodbye to this chapter, we're thrilled to share that we'll be returning to the same space with an entirely new concept—crafted for the residents of Burlington and the travelers passing through.
